Welcome to my blog, who am I?
<2/20/24>
My name's Koby and I'm a very very veryyyy new software engineering student attending WGU, or Western Governors University. So far, with the last like month or two spent learning some basic fundamentals, I've only really worked in HTML, CSS, and Python. As a reference for how new I am, the following screenshot is one of two "projects" I've done in Python.
(S/O to the VSC extension CodeSnap for the amazing screenshot)
And, if isn't obvious immediately, that tiny little project required a ton of YT and documentation assistance.
So, now for the real question..
Why a blog?
It's very simple. I am best held accountable when I am seen.
That sounds super creepy, but really it's just another way of saying that I can better hold myself accountable when I have a way to document progress and struggles throughout my learning journey.
Besides that reason, I just find it to be a fun idea. A little time capsule into my journey as it develops. (also I need more people around me that code because right now I sound insane bringing this stuff up to anyone else)
Anyways..
For the future I'll be learning the Swift language as I've found it pretty fun so far and I really like the idea of iOS development!
If you have any tips, questions, anything feel free to let me know! Thanks for reading.
Day 4 (10-11-23)
Today I wasn't sure I wanted to code. More accurately, I had a great idea for a dinner I could make with pantry stuff and frozen leftovers and wanted to do that instead. I decided I would code for 10 or 15 minutes, then make dinner. It has been about an hour.
I started back on the accessibility lesson, and so much of what I was learning seemed applicable to the color palette page I started on yesterday. I started writing down more and more properties and tags to remember, until eventually I just had to make some adjustments to the page.
It took a little time, but overall I feel that the structure of the page makes much more sense and I am happy with that. I will finish the accessibility lesson later but I won't force myself to focus in a purely linear fashion. I think allowing myself to fixate on my side project will help me feel enthusiastic about coding in general. I figure if I can feel the same way about coding as I feel about Stardew Valley, cooking, and paleontology, then I'll end up absorbing every bit of information I can find and actually retain it. Working with my brain instead of against it seems like a good idea.
The pantry-freezer dinner, if anyone was wondering, will be carnitas taquitos with a creamy dipping sauce, mexican rice cooked in bone broth made from scraps, and iced tea :)

Custom Tumblr theme help
So there are a few themes on here that I really like. But I can't really get them to how I'm picturing it. Here's what I'm picturing below.
I know that it's a bit lazy and minimalist, but I slapped this together in MS Paint. This is roughly what I'd like my Tumblr theme to be, but this is only for demonstrative purposes.
I don't really know HTML or how to code, and I'm wondering if anyone has any tutorials on how I can set up my blog like this. Thanks in advance!
