Currently installing The Sims 4 on a 2011 MacBook Pro 15-inch running Zorin OS (Linux) via CrossOver (Wine). I can’t wait to see how horribly this turns out.

This is how I pay for macOS CrossOver every year:

On one hand, it’s bullshit I have to pay for software to run other paid softwares on my computer, in 2024.

On the other hand, it’s only $34, the company is an employee-owned trust, and almost every bit of code they write is upstreamed to the WINE Project. (Also there’s a Linux version which I sometimes use when regular WINE can’t run certain apps.)

I think the reason Wine 9.x versions are seemingly focusing on implementing x86_64 to ARM64 translation is because the Codeweavers are a major funder of Wine, and with the death on Intel Macs on the horizon (and thusly Apple’s Rosetta 2 translation layer), they probably really want to get a native Apple Silicon version of CrossOver out for version 25 or 26.
