“Not interested.” Charlie doesn’t get involved. He never asks a client why they need something forged because he doesn’t want to know. He’s content to be ignorant. “And I don’t wanna hear it.”

A spread from the illustrated manuscript of Codicillus (Northern Italy, 1472), one of over one hundred alchemical texts falsely attributed to Ramon Llull.
The real Llull was a mathematician and a mystic, who attempted to summarize all human knowledge in a body of work he called his Art, which anticipated the field of computer science by several hundred years.
Although Llull was an outspoken critic of alchemy (the transmutation of metals specifically), the corpus attributed to his psuedo-personality is credited with the discovery of the philosopher’s stone, a recipe for an elixer of life, and virtually every other unsubstantiated claim that the alchemical proto-scientists proposed.
From Les Enluminures:
The text itself is presented as a compendium of the secrets of nature already revealed in other works. The opening chapters are theoretical, and discuss the relationship between the microcosm and macrocosm, the bond of love uniting the world, the need for a reformatio materiae (a reformation of matter), that can be achieved by the true alchemist who receives illumination from God (themes also found in the Testamentum).

Now this was a familiar presence. Almost a welcome one, too, for it had been a long time since he'd been around anyone he could say with honesty he liked. And yet now here he was.
"Remiel, it's been a long time." He nodded at his brother, a smile almost tugging at his lips. "A very long time."
Greed
Greed: Something I can’t get enough of.
"The list for this is literally a mile long." He chuckled, shoulders rolling slightly. "We’ll go with the most obvious; fights. Fist fights preferably, but verbal spars are a good substitute. Really wars are what get my ‘pistons pumping’, the sound of gunfire and smell of burning what-have-you, but I take what I can get right now. Love ‘em, can’t get enough of them, and humans are very easy to goad into fighting either each other or myself if the mood arises so there is never a lack of fun in that area at least."

Whoah, tonight was busy. Who the hell spread the word about the bar this time? Eddie and the waitresses were constantly pouring drinks and delivering them, and he was starting to get a little worried -- so many people could only spell trouble sooner or later.
Thankfully, no such trouble occurred, and as the horde of patrons finally began to depart, someone new came in amid the crowd. Eddie waved awkwardly (as he was holding an armful of glasses to put in the sink), and when that was done headed over to where they'd sat at the bar. "Man, you're lucky. Just missed the crowd; ten minutes earlier and you wouldn't have been able to sit down. Anyway, what can I get you?"
