ive always seen oisein as he/they djlskhgds so happy its official now. my character is also a he/they (and oisein romancer ofc... just another thing for them to bond over) which makes me wonder if we might see multiple pronouns for mc in-game at some point? it's probably a lot more work so i understand if not, just curious!

For MCs with multiple pronouns - this is definitely something I want to try and implement in the future. To be completely transparent, it might be after the next update / come in a later patch while I focus on more story content right now. But I also do want to respect that MC's may use multiple pronouns! The ability to change pronouns from Stats was my holdover half-solution for now because this has been brought up before.

But...thinking out loud, I think I could also do it with the option to select secondary pronouns (he/they and she/they as base ones maybe?) at the initial selection, and then adding a similar second menu in the stats for future changes. Then have those variables spread throughout references to the MC so that it is mixed.

....welp. Now this will probably live rent free in my head as a coding challenge to tackle in between writing now that a lot of other coding things are sorted. So knowing myself - though I can't 100% guarantee it - this will probably be implemented in the next update haha.

I'm a long-time fan of the Nameless, and alongside other IFs I love, it inspired me to work on my own little story, to see if the medium was something I was interested in. Turns out it is! So now I'm hoping you'll be open to discussing a part of your code, because you did something I hope to achieve as well and it's making me crazy not finding a way to do it. Hi! First of all thank you for the kind words and so excited for your own IF adventures! 🥰

So I think I’m understanding the question correctly - and it’s done very similarly to the MC’s depending on what method you use!

I initialize all of the pronoun variables for the ROs (sample for the Magesmith below. Also you can use $m_they $m_their etc for ease of typing if you can haha. My brain just needs to see the pronouns spelled out to write 😣):

And then depending on whether or not someone chooses to select the RO genders up front, they receive a drop down menu of the options using a listbox…

Or if it’s done within the story itself, I use the cycle macro

Both of these use the $[x]_gender variable as what is being selected, and then for me once the player moves to the next passage, there’s if statements that look at that variable and then sets the rest of the pronouns to fit. I.e. for Oisein, if the person selects “person” for $o_gender, it will run through the if statement and set those initialized variables to they/them/their/theirs for the remainder of the game.

Probably not theeee best way to do this? Haha but it’s older code and I think has worked so far so I’ve left it as is 🙈

For the accent images: So I used this template by Vahnya for the base of my sidebar, but really this works with any template or design that has you input a custom menu into the ::StoryInterface passage (That template has a great in-code explanation/is easily navigable to work your way through that!)

Afterwards, it's just having a couple of transparent bg images in my images folder around the story menu portion!

Hey, I don't know if you care, but some of your blog previews are weird or showing a bunch of "post not found" images (the girl on the swing, the zooming x-ray, etc). Your themes are amazing though!

yeah i’ve noticed haha, it’s because i took the static previews off a sideblog i used to use that i’ve now deleted. i’d forgotten about it tho lol thank you for reminding me i’ll fix it asap!

Hello! I love your FC Directory. It's extremely useful and very well done. Did you do the coding for it? I was wondering if the general idea/layout was available for others to use? It'd be a great organizing tool for resources. Is there a link to the code available?
