Watching the awesome Blacklist with the fantastic James Spader and this scene totally sums up the difficulties those of us with #coeliacdisease face when eating out. Restaurant owners and workers seriously when we ask if something is gluten free "I believe so" is not a good enough answer. We don't ask for fun but for the sake of our health. Coeliac disease is a debilitating autoimmune disease and when those with it consume gluten it causes both short and long term health issues. It's hard to create art sometimes. For me, it's especially difficult after eating gluten. As a Coeliac, the consequences of eating gluten (accidental or not) include stomach pain, a spike in anxiety and depression as well as chronic fatigue for days, sometimes even weeks after the spiking. Creating art during this time period is especially difficult but so worthwhile in expressing my headspace.
