On this Stir-up Sunday, I am experiencing a new type of fic-reader confusion. I have gleefully mushed a lot of your Foyle’s War fic into my idea of the canon. But today, I am wondering not “Is this in canon, or did I read it somewhere?” but rather “Does Kivrin actually have a fic for Sam Stewart on Stir-up Sunday, or have I made it up in my head?” ...Do you?
First, if it is not too forward, I shall hug you, because that is a lovely thing to hear.
There’s a brief reference in the “Sam knitting” story - “By stir-up Sunday she had only worked six inches of the back panel [of a jumper].” But a dedicated fic is an EXCELLENT idea and anyone interested should give it a go (as I may if I have the brain this evening.)
The collect that gives the day its name, for reference (from the BCP as proposed in 1928 but unchanged from the BCP of 1662):
Stir up, we beseech thee, O Lord, the wills of thy faithful people; that they, plenteously bringing forth the fruit of good works, may of thee be plenteously rewarded; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
