Check out my unboxing of Coffee and a Classic. You can see my full blog post here http://kathieysworld.blogspot.com/2018/10/coffee-and-classic-subscription-box.html
Coffee and a Classic unboxing for Sept 2018. What a fun box!
The Basics
I was going to post about my first box until I realize many readers are unlikely to know the elements of this subscription. While many book subscriptions are limited to just a book, this one comes with a choice of
1. A drink option- Coffee, Tea or Hot Cocoa
2. The genre: Classic Literature, Nonfiction, or Classic Children’s Books.
3. A snack, or really what kind of snack group you fall into. For example sweet, salty, savory, and etc.
All these options are included with the monthly subscription, along with a gorgeous mug and 2 other random items. Overall, it’s a damn good deal. So good I decided a blog was the only way to show my appreciation for the brand.
PS: The company “Coffee and a Classic” Is located in Portland. I minute I heard that I thought “Of course! This is hipster concept, and really where coffee shops dominate.”
It’s finally here! It felt like I had been waiting forever for my subscription box to come, but today was the day.
This is the first time I had ever subscribed to a book box, so I was a bit wary at first, but so far so good! There are so many goodies I want to share with you guys so stay tuned!!
This month’s classic fiction book is The Count of Monte Cristo written by Alexandre Dumas.
I hadn’t read this classic before so I am quite excited to read it. It’s a pretty thick book, labeled as a thriller of sorts. The cover work is beautifully abstract and the overall smell is fantastic.
Yes, smell. Haha, I’m one of those people who prefer real books over ebooks because of the scent. It’s a really good quality paperback that is brand new. It was packaged well, which helped to avoid tears and dents.
Next, I got coffee! I am an avid coffee drinker so I was very excited that I received it in this month’s box.
It is from the Coffee Shop of Horrors, which I’ll be purchasing from in the future. It looks to be a great flavor, Vanilla Cinnamon, based on the comic V for Vendetta. It’s a pretty good size too. You get 2 oz worth of ground coffee. I haven’t tasted it yet. I had already had coffee when this appeared on my doorstep. However, I’ll be making strides to drink this on my next day off, and share it with Keith!
Next up, we have Sugar Bowl Bakery Madeleines.
Normally, I’m not a huge fan of these cookies because they’re oftentimes hard. Yet, somehow, these madeleines are super soft still, as though they are fresh from the oven. I received two of them in the box. They should lie very well with the coffee, and I can also share these with Keith. If they are as good as they look, I’ll most certainly have to look into purchasing more from this bakery.
We then have a beautiful glass mug.
It has a crest on it with the words Wait & Hope scribed onto it. It’s a beautifully made mug and quite interesting. I’ve never had a glass mug before and I’m interested to know how well it withstands heat.
I’ll be using this mug for sure when I drink the coffee! The design of this mug was done by Coffee and a Classic themselves. I’m sure it has something to do with the book, but until I read it, I wouldn’t know for sure.
We then come to bookish item number one. These are socks from the company Out of Print.
They are The Count of Monte Cristo themed socks. On the bottom of the right sock, it says “Free Dantes”.
These socks are actually really comfortable. They give me Doctor Who vibes because of the tally marks. These would be pretty cool cosplay socks for that reason. This company seems pretty cool too! With every purchase, they donate a book to a community in need. Books are very important, so I stand by their values.
The next bookish item is a set of book cover pins from Coffee and a Classic. It shows three different classic book covers for The Count of Monte Cristo.
I’m having a hard time deciding where I want to put these. They would make amazing magnets, but I also want to keep them as pins. I guess I could always pin them to my shirt or a jacket. I like the feel of the pins as well. They smooth and they feel well made!
Lastly, we have the Handsewn Corner Bookmark from Coffee and a Classic.
I have never seen or heard of a corner bookmark before, but I already love the idea. It’s beautifully crafted too.
It comes in a satin red, drawstring bad. It’s red and blue, and I can’t wait to see if it holds any significance to the book!
For the price of $38/ month plus shipping, it was totally worth it. You get a lot of things out of this box. You can decide to get the smaller box as well, which would be a cheaper option. You would receive a book and the bookish items, just not the option of a hot beverage or a mug.
I hope you guys enjoyed this post! I urge y’all to check out this box and see for yourself. Thanks for reading!
Xoxo
Coffee and a Classic April 2018!!! It's finally here! It felt like I had been waiting forever for my subscription box to come, but today was the day.
