DIARY OF SORTS #2

When I was in University I had a group of friends. Whenever the others start to sort of gang up on a single person and just backstab him/her, I talk to that person. I tell him/her the others concerns what they didn't like about them. I just hated conflicts and drama, I want peace I don't want any awkwardness. I wanted to be the one they can turn to without making them feel like they're being judged.

University ended we went our own ways, I wasn't able to finish the course with them. I graduated in a different course.

I tried to stay in touch, chatting with them individually not on the group chat we had. Specially when Covid and lockdowns started because some are working abroad as nurses. I was worried for them.

Its only now years later did I realize that I was always the first one to reach out to them, to see if they're fine.

This realization made me feel completely abandoned. I'm an introvert when I consider you a friend I always want to know that you're okay. You are the people I consider closest to me aside from my immediate family members.

It hurts to know that I don't really mean much to you guys after all.

Sunod (2019)

Synopsis: As the medical expenses for her daughter stack up, a mother takes a demanding call center job where the building's sinister secrets begin to haunt her.

MOVIE SUMMARY:

The movie is about Olivia played by Carmina Villaroel who has a daughter named Anelle played by Krystal Brimner who is at the hospital due to congenital heart defect.

Olivia wants for Anelle to be comfortable during her hospital stay so she looks for a job to ensure that her daughter can stay in a private room. She gets accepted at Liboro Global Outsourcing (LGO).

LGO is owned by Karen Liboro played by Mylene Dizon. Olivia is trained by Lance played by JC Santos.

She also meets and become friends with Mimi played by Kate Alejandrino a self-proclaimed professional trainee, since she only stays to get the trainee allowance before leaving to look for another job. Mimi decides to stay however due to Olivia.

While working a spirit becomes attached to her and begins to disrupt her work. The spirit, Nerisa reveals herself to Olivia and she unknowingly frees the spirit from the building when she led Nerisa out thinking she is a lost child.

Nerisa possessed Anelle's body and because of this Anelle's congenital heart defect vanished and she was allowed to leave the hospital. The hospital bill was too much for Olivia but Lance gives her the money, however he had bad intentions towards Olivia and tries to force himself on her but she was able to escape. Olivia told Mimi what happened and Nerisa/Anelle heard it. Nerisa then kills Lance in the basement.

Due to Anelle's sudden behavioral changes Olivia deducts that Nerisa had possessed her daughter. So that Nerisa would leave her and her daughter alone she made a deal with Nerisa. She would help find Nerisa's mother,Perla and find her body which was in the room in the Liboro basement.

With the help of Mimi they were able to find Perla and sneak in the Liboro building basement. Perla and Nerisa had devious plans however and while in the room in the basement Perla kills Mimi and knocks out Olivia. Perla plans to conduct a ritual to transfer her soul to Olivia but Karen arrives and frees Olivia. Nerisa runs but Olivia pursues her and they were able to cast Nerisa out. 

Once again Anelle is in the hospital as her condition returned. Karen assures Olivia that she will take care of everything. She then invites Olivia with her to go meet the police and while they are in the elevator it is implied that Perla had taken over Karen's body.

MY THOUGHTS:

The movie made me feel attached to a character, usually when I watch horror movies I don't really get attached but I really liked Mimi. When they were in the basement I knew that she was gonna die and I was really hoping she wasn't but she did.

With regards to Nerisa I thought as the movie went on that Olivia was in over her head, because there doesn't seem to be any illusions that Nerisa was good at all. Even when they first met and they were going down the stairs she already looked sinister and I think Olivia felt that there was something wrong with her too. I guess Olivia held on to the hope that after she fulfills her promise to Nerisa that the spirit would leave her and Anelle alone.

Overall though I enjoyed the movie, it wasn't really scary and I don't think there were jumpscares but still worth a watch.

SIREN (2016)

Starring: Hannah Fierman, Chase Williamson, Justin Welborn, Hayes Mercure, Michael Aaron Milligan, Randy McDowell

Synopsis:One week before his wedding day, Jonah and his groomsmen hit the town for a wild night of club hopping and debauchery. But the party becomes a savage fight for survival when they unwittingly unleash a fabled predator upon the festivities.

MY THOUGHTS:

I'm not really a fan of horror films that features creatures as the source of horror but I wanted to watch this to delve into other branches of horror.

It's a good film but it was not that enjoyable for me maybe because I enjoy films more when I get attached to the characters and there was no one here to get attached to. I did like Rand though, especially when he was making sure that Jonah won't make any regrets or mistakes when they were talking to Nyx.

The siren, Lily freaked me out but it actually has to do with her eyes, because they are big.

I also liked the concept with the bartender being able to extract your memories using the leeches she has on her head, and also being able to give those memories to other people but you have to drink/eat the leech.

Regarding the acting, I thought it was good but there were just some scenes where the reactions of the characters seem lacking. When the siren took Jonah, Mac the older brother didn't seem to care, but I guess the limited reaction maybe because he was shocked that his brother was being carried away by a monster. When Mac was killed, Jonah didn't react the way I thought he would react but I guess they were never close.

That being said, while I was watching the film I was much more interested on what actually happens in the club much more than what was happening to the protagonists.

INSTANT NOODLES TASTE TEST

First time trying Nissin Chicken and Mushroom Flavor Cup Noodles.

It has a lid (I think it can be used as a mini bowl? Not sure, the Nissin cup noodles that we have here don't have it).

I think this has a lot more ingredients than the ones we have here.

Taste test time: The first thing I tasted when I tried the soup? broth? (someone help me) was mushrooms. I barely tasted chicken, I'm not mad about that because it tasted good. I also may have left it too long because the noodles are soft, it didn't go mushy but they are soft.

Verdict: 3/5. The chicken taste was very faint. I don't have anything else to say because this is my first time posting a taste test for noodles. I do have other brands to try out so I might be able to compare and see what brands and flavors I like.

Two books more to go. I'm still waiting for Interview with the Vampire (I lost my old copy 😢😢), and Blood Canticle.

My last post was on february, I am so bad at this blogging thing. I will admit I do get distracted easily but I will do better I swear.

Speaking of being distracted, I am once again pulled into the books of Anne Rice. Specifically, the vampire chronicles.

This just arrived yesterday and I'm waiting for four more books to complete them.

But while waiting:

I'm currently reading this book which I've had for years now and I vaguely remember reading it but not finishing because,,, I get distracted easily. Here's to hoping I actually do finish it. After this I'll re-read Interview with the Vampire and go with the order that the vampire chronicles are supposed to be read.

The order that I've read them before was IWTV, The Vampire Lestat, Blood and Gold, Queen of the Damned and the Vampire Armand.

Aside from the first two books I've read them out of order and just collected the other books without reading them because,,, life.

I will be posting the continuation of my coffee taste test within this week.

Random Haul

I haven't posted a haul in awhile so here is a somewhat random one.

This is the second batch of Cafe Latory delivery from another seller because most of the flavors are sold out, and she's the only one who had certain flavors that I didn't already have. I don't think I'll be able to try all the flavors since I tried to browse once again but they haven't actually restocked yet.

Flavors in counter clockwise are: Fromage Milk Tea, Pistachio cocoa, Milk Cafe Latte 0, and Houjicha Latte

Next I have a product from Kerastase Paris

I just had may hair colored and I have used this product before and I really like it. It is a Illuminating protecting fluid for color treated hair. Also they gave freebies which includes the shampoo for color treated hair and keratin treatment for frizzy hair.
