heya! tips on making friends on here? i've been in the studyblr community since last year and i haven't made friends yet T^T
hi! sorry this is so late. i cover some tips in this post.
my main tips are:
comment on posts either through the reply function or when you reblog
send people asks and take part in ask games that they may reblog
take part in challenges
message people (but don’t overdo it)
the most important thing to remember is that friendships have to happen organically. you can’t really force them. i didn’t really have any friends on tumblr for ages but in the past couple of months i’ve happened to find people who I really connect with and made friends with. so try not to worry about it too much
quickest way for me to curb nausea is to have a piece of candy (lollies or just any candy that's not chocolate/milk) or if you don't have candy, you could have half a teaspoon of sugar !! learned this all from my filipina grandmother hehe hope you feel better ):
this is very useful!! thank you soooo so much ^-^
thursday. took my first long exam for calc (midyear term). courses are condensed into one month. 3 exams in the next 3 weeks ): wish me luck
hope everyone is well
8.12.21 • I received an early birthday gift set from my uncle! My room smells like perfume, but I’m not sure how long it’ll last since I’ll be painting in my room today and the medium I use for my oils have a strong scent haha. My desk set up is looking nice, white + wood is such a calm aesthetic, and the addition of the reed diffuser and the dried flowers are good additions to my desk. I can’t wait to start studying on my desk when school starts back up in September.
an encouragement for my fellow students!
idk who needs this but listen here:
i was an honor student all my life. highest weighted grade, class president, athlete, you name it--i had it all.
until my final two years of high school came and the combined pressure of getting into my dream uni, moving to a new school, making memories and making sure my senior year was as memorable as possible, and the pressure of being perfect finally consumed me. the two years i needed wanted that one thing so bad were the years i didn’t get it.
i graduated with average grades and without honors.
i let it affect me severely. i thought to myself, that’s it. all my years of hard work down the drain. i will never amount to anything ever again. i cried about it for days and let anxiety and fear take over my life.
months have passed since my high school career ended. and you know what? i don’t remember it. my previous classmates don’t remember it. my parents don’t remember it. i got into my dream uni and i promised myself to just be.
be present in your studies. be at peace with yourself. be in touch with your own needs. let yourself be.
you’re tired and need to rest? let yourself be. go and rest. do that thing later.
you’ve failed that one important test? let yourself be. process your emotions. find out where and why you went wrong. try again.
you feel like you’re drowning and just want to shut off and disappear? let yourself be. take some time for yourself so you can regroup. come back later. take responsibility for it.
accept that you’re being, and take it from there. it may feel like the end of the world, but it’s not. you’ve got your whole life ahead of you. it’ll only be the end once your time on earth is up. until then, you’ve got to let yourself be.
Just look at the mess I’ve made.
I’m about a third of the way through A Little Life, and so far I have experienced a range of emotions already! I have managed to cry, laugh, nearly hurled in disgust (seriously guys, read the content warnings), among other things, and I’m not even halfway there yet…
School starts tomorrow and I’m excited, even though I only have one class and it’s not until 4 PM. Last week I attended orientations and managed to make plans for my first week back in uni. I found out yesterday that I have to re-take computer programming 1 which I dropped last school year because of many issues I had to deal with.
I’m worried about 2 things:
My scientific calculator needs new batteries because, as an applied mathematics major, I need my calculator, but I can’t leave my house (because I haven’t been vaccinated yet, hopefully I get a schedule soon) and ordering online would take significantly longer.
Only one of our professors have reached out to our block, which means I only have one class scheduled in my planner—I like being organized and so the ambiguity of my other classes worry me!
Keep safe everyone! Get vaccinated, if you haven’t already!
