It’s cold, dark and wet outside. I was up at 4am hours before most of the world even thinks about getting out of bed. I’ve got a few hours left in this day. I’ve filled up my @yeti for about the 6th time with @ravenswingcoffeeco . It’s days like this that I absolutely love my job. It makes me feel alive. That probably sounds crazy to most of you but my blue collar brothers and sisters know exactly what I mean. We didn’t choose professions like this because they are easy. We chose them because they are a challenge and we need that. I’m a heavy duty mechanic that works in arguably one of the more dangerous places. I spent the day trying not to get squished by giant machines walking around in giant puddles and getting work done to keep these machines running so that your world keeps turning. With my Perkins on from @bruntworkwear keeping my feet dry and @hellyhansen keeping the rest of me dry it’s game on and I’ll do it with a smile on my face. #scuffedbootssociety . The reason I bring all this up is because we need more people like this in the world. We need more men and women to get into the trades. We need skilled laborers and operators and mechanics because these are the jobs that keep this world spinning. The caliber of applicants that are applying for these jobs are not going to cut it in ten years. This is a large part of what made me want to start talking about #selfreliance . As a young man or woman you should be proud of the work you put in every day. You should be eager to get up every day and do the best you can! You should be excited that the days guna try to kick your ass but you’re not guna let it win. You should want people to recognize your commitment. Don’t be ok sitting back and letting someone else do the hard stuff. It won’t benefit you in the long run. Do the things that are hard. These are the things you will grow from.
