My Gendrya Valentine is the lovely @coffeexwhiskey! Happy Valentine’s Day!

i’m not sure exactly what this drabble is, it sort of just sprung forth from my mind, lol. i hope you enjoy and have a great day!

The grass rustles softly as a breeze runs by, a chill moving through it’s damp tufts and biting at Arya’s covered legs.

She tilts her head back, letting it run over her—letting the North run over her.

The smell has dissipated but the image is still burned behind her eyelids. Piles upon piles of bodies—bodies she’d known—going up in flames. She hadn’t cried in so long, not since Braavos, but she’d cried that night; let it all out, the exhaustion, the sadness, the relief.

She feels tears prick at her eyes even now, unbidden as if now that she’s started again she’ll never put a stopper in it—not like No One could.

“You comin’ in for supper, m’lady?” The voice startles her, one hand flying to the dagger on her hip, the other flying to her stomach in an instant.

She scolds herself, irritated that these newfound emotions had distracted her.

“I’ll be there in a minute,” she bites out.

She hears him walking away, feet crunching noisily in the grass. He never had learned to tread more quietly.

She rolls her eyes as she realizes what he’s said. “And don’t call me that!”

It’s quiet for but a moment, his footsteps having halted, before a boyish laugh meets her ears. “Aye, as you say m’lady.”

She sighs, clamping her eyes shut once more, a soft smile teasing at her lips. Her hand has yet to leave her stomach.

The past is the past, she thinks, standing slowly, and I have a future to live for.

34: a scene/paragraph you wrote that you’re proud of

I just spent farrrr too much time trying to find something. I’m clearly too far removed from this story right now and I need to fix that ASAP. I’ve definitely said it before but the Outnumbered chapter is forever something I’ll be proud of. It was such a huge undertaking and I actually think I did a fair job at executing a lot of action (which is not at all my strong suit) while still tending to the heart of the story. So yeah. That chapter.

I always try to, even if it’s just something simple. I hate that feeling when people don’t reply, so I never want to put someone in that place.

40: Where do you want to live when your older?

I don’t think the where is important, it’s who you’re with. I don’t really have any specific locations. Also, older, when is older? Haha

4. Movie of the year?

I’m such a movie buff, it’s almost embarrassing, because I’ve basically seen everything there is to see this year and the real movie season is only just beginning. I would say my favorite so far this year is Booksmart. I did not expect to like it as much as I did, but it’s such a gorgeous story about female friendship, and friendship in general, that is sorely lacking in Hollywood. Everyone please watch! Runner up: The Irishman because Scorsese, duh.

9. Best month for you this year?

August. I am a huge music festival buff and got to see so many of my favorite bands that month at a festival + two of my best friends got married and it was magical <3

20. What’s something you learned this year?

This year taught me to listen to my instincts more and to not be afraid. There’s been a lot of soul searching after ending a relationship and committing to pursuing new career opportunities...and of course, getting my writing mojo back. Also turning 30 and realizing that you can’t in fact go out 4 days a week anymore and still maintain a normal life...so yeah. A lot of change haha.

I. Do you have any particular inspirations when you write fanfic? 

music for sure. individual chapters have their own Secret Theme Song which means the 1-5 songs i played on loop while i was writing it

and getting comments 💛💛💛  im sure everyone will agree it’s a lot easier to write stuff if people are excited to read

L. What is your favorite fic idea that you don’t think you’ll ever write?i got a couple :’D one was going to be an iron bull/female lavellan fic where fenris turns out to be loosely related to the lavellan clan and they all roadtrip there and Culture Shock ensues

probably the fury sequel :/ perhaps spoilers one day for that: it would’ve been about arya and one of the gendrya babies going up north to visit winterfell while gendry stays at home with the other two. during arya’s visit, sansa officially declares northern independence, tries to persuade arya to name one of her kids sansa’s heir, and spills the beans about jon being the true heir. 

meanwhile, gendry has to deal with dany wanting his ass for arya seemingly committing treason. there’s a tourney. fake aegon and connington are there. gendry allies with his noble bestie edmure in the riverlands. bran gets married because i am physically incapable of writing GOT fic without weddings i guess. gendrya babies 1-3 (or 1-5 depending on how big i make the time skip)

Q. If you could pick one fic of yours to rewrite, which would it be? god a lot of them LOL. first thing that comes to mind is that the concept for “round and round” deserved a lot better than the writing i gave it

FanFic Ask Game B & F

B: Any of your stories inspired by personal experience?

None of my published fics are, but the idea of photographer!arya i’m working on is inspired by my experience studying creative media 

F: Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

This is actually from the first Gendrya thing I wrote - Life or Death. It’s cheesy really, but I am proud of it. This bit in particular, I like now knowing that canon acted like Arya would have been chill with that rejection being their final conversation, especially after almost dying (again).

“You were up against a fire-breathing dragon, Arya, there wasn’t much anyone could do,” Gendry pointed out.

“I know that, but it hurt. And the only thing that gave me the strength to get out of there… was the desire to live. I thought I was never going to get the chance to tell you how I feel about you and I.. I couldn’t die knowing that conversation we had would be our last.”

Gendry didn’t say anything. He looked at her in that annoying way he looked at her, Arya mused. As if she’d never broken his heart, as if she never would. As if she was his entire world.

“I can’t be your Lady,” she repeated adamantly, raising her hand to stroke his cheek. “But I can be your family.”

“Family,” Gendry repeated with a huge grin on his face. “That sounds much better than the shit I said.”

“Yeah,” Arya laughed. “Although, at least now I know I need to teach you how to use a fork.”

3. Favorite musical artist / group you started listening to this year?

Please don't judge too hard, but One Direction. I don't listen to a lot of music and then I read the after series by Anna Todd and one of my best friends is a hardcore Directioner and well here we are.

11. Something you want to do again next year?

Lol, I wish I did anything this year at all.

Maybe staying up late to talk to my mutuals.

19. What’re you excited about for next year?

Fucking graduating uni. If I need longer, someone please kill me.
