“Rebuild Bulkhead Near Manotick,” Ottawa Journal. July 28, 1931. Page 3. --- Engineers Say No Dewatering of River will Be Necessary. ---- Strengthening of the bulkhead in the Rideau River at Manotick by concreting the present wooden structure, to be carried out by the Rideau Canal division of the Department of Railways and Canals within the next month. The work will entail an outlay of about $7,000. it was stated. 

A coffer dam will first be constructed to keep the water away from the bulkhead so that the men ran work at it unhampered. About 25 will be employed on the job. 

Navigation will not be interfered with, engineer of the department said, and, contrary to reports, they denied that any stretch of the river would be de-watered by the operation.
