There’s a difference between physically feeling something as a soul and feeling something as a human. Especially after all this time. And the nightgown touching her legs right now is definitely one of those ‘human’ feelings she never expected to have again. Nor is the wet grass from dew gathering over the course of the early evening. Jess finds herself in a field in the middle of what looks exactly like she expected Nowhere USA to always look, and once she goes far enough to find a road she picks a direction and starts walking, surprised by the rough gravel under her feet. The internal monologue of her freaking out is kept just that... internal, because she could just be dreaming, but she couldn’t remember ever having done that in Heaven before.
What does finally pull her out of her thoughts is a loud crack, and it takes her a moment to realize it’s not thunder... too sharp... too singular with no rolling aftershock. Heading in the direction of the sound, sure to find someone, she stopped when she saw a vehicle, some kind of Jeep that a woman was rushing to get into and holding a gun in her hand while she flung her bag across the seat and climbed in, tearing out of a gravel and asphalt path and onto the road.
Curious, Jess made her way to the origin of the shot, finding a heavy concrete building with a door left wide open. Her first instinct was to run, get out of there and hope that whatever brought her back to Earth as a human wasn’t playing a cruel joke to get her killed again. Once inside the door, Jess looked around, down a winding staircase, and feet from the bottom a man lay on the floor, a growing puddle of blood around him. She rushed down the stairs, ignoring the way the metal bit into the soles of her feet and went to her knees beside the man.
“Hey, hey wake up...” she started, hoping it wasn’t already too late to do something. But her next breath in was choked off quickly when she recognized the face she looked down on, though older and with more wear on it than there should’ve been for just ten years passed.
“Sam? Sam it’s Jess. I need you to wake up. Please?”

“Yeah Sammy, I know, but I don’t know what to tell ya”

The younger hunter stared at Sam in disbelief. “It was one demon, Sam.” It was hardly more than a whisper, as Zax knelt down to the now dead woman. He stared at the blood, the stab wound through her throat. “You.. You did not.. Have ta’ kill her. We c-could have exorcised her!” He exclaimed, voice rising slightly. “You did not.. Even try. You jus’ went in with tha’ knife!”

“Because it might just save both our asses.”
coinquinatus:
“Give me ONE reason why I should.” Every breath was sharp like glass digging deeper and deeper into his lungs. His mouth was dry and his pale lips were chapped. He had already given up. He struggles to sit up enough to look his brother in the eyes.
“Because I can’t do this without you,” He breathes back shakily, one hand pressed on the wound to keep him from blooding out. There's too much blood, and he knows that unless Sam fights like the goddamn Winchester he is, he's gonna lose the only thing that even matters anymore.
“Don’t do this to me, Sam. Not like this,” he begged softly, tears flooding his eyes as he puts even more pressure on the blood soaked spot, partly in an attempt to get the bleeding to just stop and partly to punish him for even doing this. He knows that Sam wants to die, know that this was just some goddamn kamikaze hunt but he can’t let go. He doesn’t want to let go. He’s not ready to.
