i need kim to call harry by his name, rather than his title because ofc. it's a rarity and it's familiar and it makes harry so happy. however, on the flip side, i also really want harry to call kim by his titles, because i don't know how it would make kim feel. it would be complicated
on one hand, it annoys kim that harry doesn't refer to him properly. it has since he met him. from his perspective, it's demeaning and a sign of disrespect for his rank. he's faced this from other officers, both above and below him, as an intentional sign of disrespect. on the other hand, after getting to know harry, he's more familiar with how he sees things and he knows it's not out of disrespect. it couldn't be. not when harry quite literally looks at him like he's got a halo.
i think there would be this initial shock, and confusion. and then quickly he would be more confused at his own lack of satisfaction than for why harry used it in the first place. i think it would be frustrating to him that it feels wrong somehow for harry to refer to him so formally, because it should feel good. he's finally getting the respect he deserves, right?
especially because i can only see harry using kim's official titles when he feels distance growing. like a defense mechanism- self destructing a relationship when it seems to be going cold anyways.
it would of course depend on the context though. i think harry could also use his titles when bragging on him or for official stuff, and that would feel good. the dilemma though is that it's hard to tell if kim is actually getting the satisfaction out of the title itself, or just from the respect and pride harry obviously has for him regardless of what title he uses. he would most likely feel just the same if harry was bragging about his skills as a detective but referring to him informally, because he knows his heart, and he knows it's sincere.
i also think it would be interesting to consider the fact that harry is really only shown using official titles when first meeting someone that he perceives as a threat, or is just on icy terms with them. not riled up enough to get in a full fledged argument (where titles aren't used because he's just reverting to default as halflight takes the wheel) but uncomfortable enough that he feels the need to put some sort of distance between himself and the other person. the title is a wall, which some people use to convey respect, but harry doesn't do walls unless he doesn't like you.
it's something that i would like to be explored, mostly because it's something that a lack of communication on could really fuck things up. let's say kim doesn't ever pick up on harry's intentions. then there's this perfect foundation for resentment and misunderstanding to grow, because he doesn't see the respect/reverence harry has for him as not only an officer, but a person in general. or if harry fails that perception check and doesn't understand why the titles are so important to kim. then harry has the misconception that kim doesn't like him, that he wants to keep distance between them, etc- since he sees it more as a formality.
there's so much dissonance between their perspectives on titles that i just think its bound to become important. i know it comes up in the game if you make certain choices- but i was a goodboy the whole time in both my runs, so it never came up, and it's still lingering under the surface ready to be explored.
I don't think Odysseus actually had a choice in his crew being killed.
Think about it! The gods probably know that there was a mutiny seeing as how he was actively trying to stop them from killing his cows, so either way the crew themselves had to be punished. Not him. BUT Odysseus DID still need to be punished for all his other shit! And what punishment could be worse than this?
On one hand, he could choose himself and have to live with that guilt for the rest of his life. Know that he choose himself over the people he was supposed to lead and protect.
On the other
Imagine if he DID choose to sacrifice himself. Odysseus, consumed by guilt for already sacrificing six men and pushing his crew to act out in this way, steels his resolve and accepts that he will never see his wife and son again. He accepts the blame, and prepares to be killed, only to watch as his crew to dies anyway and leaves him alone. Knowing that even when he tried to do the right thing, the gods truly don't care and once again drive home the message that the path or least pain would be that of a monster.
Either way, both groups would get punished by the gods for their individual actions, it's just how that punishment works that's different. The crew either die knowing their captain betrayed them, or die having their hope crushed by a cruel and unforgiving God. And Odysseus. . . Well the blood is on his hands either way. He didn't get to choose.
I love them sm you don’t understand
If you were the kind of person who thought Lucretia was the villian, i will ✨skin you✨
Why is Sam viewed as "such a little bitch" by most casual viewers? Do they watch and comprehend the show?? Do I need to put together a damn PowerPoint presentation on why he is NOT a "little bitch"?? I don't get it..
