It doesn't matter how many times I watch Cold Case or Leverage: I will always get just as emotional/hyped as the last.

I was rewatching some episodes of Cold Case(2003) last night, and I'm thinking about how unfortunate it is that the show never got(and almost certainly never will get) a proper home media release.
I understand the licensing issues, but it sucks that the show can't ever be physically released in its unaltered form. The period-appropriate music is one of the best aspects of the show, and it wouldn't be the same if it was replaced with a generic score.
I'm glad it's on streaming now, but it sucks to know it could just disappear again. It was unavailable for so long.

I wish Cold Case had more hype here on tumblr
I highly recommend it, because it’s so emotionally driven and victim-centric. Most detective shows are all about the chase and trying to outsmart the bad guy, and while that can be fun - I love that this show is more about closure, and gives the spotlight to the victims and their loved ones where it truly belongs. There’s a real tenderness and respect there that automatically makes this my all-time favorite detective show and I love it so so much GOD you guys it’s so good
Someone (anyone) please watch it with meee 🥺
I don’t know if you know how great Cold Case (2003 TV series) really is. It wasn’t just a crime drama, it was investigations into the minds of criminals and victims alike for more than just motives.
It dealt with a lot of issues most shows at the time didn’t want to get into a lot. It made you question the foundations of what your parents always taught you and reworked them into a newfound understanding. It had LGBT+ representation, dealt with racism, the destruction of the difference of wealth and poverty; it had almost everything. Of course being a crime drama, you imagine how some of it played out but it always demonstrated the harsh reality of everything and how wrong the hatred for all of these things were. If you like crime dramas and justice against racists, fascists, anti-LGBT+ and homophobic people, this is a really good show.
The characterization is stellar too. You have neutral suspects who learn through their telling of their stories. A good example of this is “A Time to Hate” which is the 7th episode of Season 1. A suspect who is a cop who helped a series of raids at a gay bar eventually tells Lily, the lead detective, that his son who is gay has a partner and that he has learned to accept his son and his choices despite his former stance in life. He may not appear much throughout the episode, but the flashbacks tied to the present actually contributes to this characterization.
Another thing that strays from the representational part is the crimes themselves. Every episode you may guess right who the murderer is but you always get thrown by small details that make you sometimes second guess yourself or even though it’s obvious who it is, the story makes the viewing completely worth it. They got creative with this show which is why it is one of my favorite shows of all time. I really recommend giving it a shot if you can. Like all shows though, the earlier episodes can be wonky with staging and stuff but as long as you aren’t particularly picking with story placement, it’s a good series.
Y'all ever watch a show and watch a character make a horrible choice like cheat on their new partner with an ex and go GIRL WHAT ARE YOU DOING.
Watching the cold case episode 'Detention' and man this teacher dude is an asshole.
Detention for a bad attitude when the dude didn't even say or do anything???
"What'd you, Tray? This is my family."
"No, I'm your family!"
My heart 😭.
