I was thinking about how I was recently varying my reading diet by reading visceral body horror and war trauma for children and then light, idle shenanigans for adults; when I found myself considering that while they have remarkably different subject matter, both Animorphs and the Ask Jeeves series have a very verbal, chatty narration style so strongly rooted in the time period it was written it now reads as a period piece.
Then I got the image of Jeeves singlehandedly not thwarting the yeerk invasion but setting back it's timeline seventy years so that they had to come back later and traumatise teenagers. Wooster falls into a hair's breadth of becoming a controller but is none the wiser. Thought the twenties version of the Sharing was a free-minded artists' club and had to be talked out of joining.

Through the eyes of the enemy: BEWARE, force of evil incarnate!
Through the eyes of his favs: he's pretty chill.
Sometimes we’re unsatisfied with a thing we made because when it only existed in our head, we saw all the things it could have been and when it’s done we know all the things that it isn’t, but we can’t see the way it expands into a million new things when someone else unpacks it in their head.
I was rewatching some episodes of Cold Case(2003) last night, and I'm thinking about how unfortunate it is that the show never got(and almost certainly never will get) a proper home media release.
I understand the licensing issues, but it sucks that the show can't ever be physically released in its unaltered form. The period-appropriate music is one of the best aspects of the show, and it wouldn't be the same if it was replaced with a generic score.
I'm glad it's on streaming now, but it sucks to know it could just disappear again. It was unavailable for so long.
I just shipped my first batch today! Still have a few more in stock for those who want. The other designs are still available, but will need to be restocked first.
Check out the store on Etsy! Going to have more coming soon.
Okay, we got a new one, boys.
Okay so, definitely this is about not giving your protagonist a spontaneous murder tail, but more largely and it's about building a living breathing world where things fit and work together within an established framework, rather than just adding new mechanics and features in isolation and outside of the rules the reader expects the world to follow.

Analyzing the modern Cyberchase episode "A Recipe for Chaos"
So "A Recipe for Chaos" is an episode from the modern seasons of Cyberchase. The theme of the episode is cooking and eating healthy food. Now I love media that portrays cooking(It's one of my hobbies), so this should be an episode that I really like.
Thing is, I don't like it.
Now, I don't particularly enjoy many of the modern episodes, but this one hits different. Today, I'm going to vent about why that is for me.
Really long post ahead, and a disclaimer that I don't truly believe everything I'm pointing out is intentional. This is a rant more than anything.
This came to me out of nowhere like 2 months ago, I wasn't even sure what I was drawing until I was done. I don't know how they got there or what happened after (probably some sort of corpse au, that or a failed clone from Vlad, idk). Woe, mystery be upon ye

Most sci fi/fantasy: this civil war has been waged for a thousand years. These great houses have ruled the realm for eight thousand years. These two families have been feuding for ten thousand years. This single political institution has stood for twenty-five thousand years.
Animorphs: there is a war waged across the galaxy, waged by countless species. Entire planets have been conquered, entire species have been enslaved. Multiple genocides have been committed, even by the "good guys." It's been going on about, oh, thirty-two years now.
