So, update on my life. TL;DR: I had what I belive to be a severe migraine, and am trying to fet more data points from other’s experiences to prove it’s not the flu or something.
I, the woman who went to work with anemia so bad I could not walk down a hallway, asked to leave an hour early.
Because of a migraine. I think/hope.
My migraines are - atypical to the media presentation (isn’t everything about me?) Vertigo (dizziness) and feeling like I’m going to be equivalently sick are my primary symptom. Body aches before headaches. Light sensitivity is super low on the list, I need to have a lot of other symptoms before that’s relevant - overstimulation is one (duh), so I still close my eyes a lot but it’s so I stop seeing, not because the light hurts.
Today, I’d delighted decided to get a small crawling tunnel to play with our babies (bright colors, peek a boo). Because today had been an actual good day, and I wanted to have fun with my kiddos.
Ten minutes in, Slam. Headache. Pain acrossy entire shoulder blades. I was sitting, so it took a few minutes for the vertigo to be noticable, but once it was I felt like I could not breath safely.
Our room remains super hot, but I’d stopped noticing. Because I’ve developed another symptom, confusing matters.
Cold chills and then overheating.
I took my temperature before leaving, 97.6F/36.4C, low normal. But the second I left my overheated room, I wanted to cry because I was so cold.
I got home two hours ago, and spent that time feeling like I was dying before I could risk grabbing what I needed:
Still fully clothes, with my long sleeve fleece coat
Bed sheet, because
20 pound / 9. kilo queen sized weighted blanket
Two comforters
A crochet afghan between for more trapped air
And then work up twenty minutes ago dying of sweat because the chill finally broke.
That doesn’t sound like the flu to me, but everyone I try to explain my chills to insist it’s a fever.
Anyone else ever hear about this kind of experience with migraines?
Oh, and I’m 90% likely to have another cold chill after this current “slowly getting too warm” period. Based on observed data.
Interesting detail: it took a while to notice, but these tend to happen on a Thursday? Since it took so long to notice and basically stopped for a year and a half, I can only guess the others happened on the same day: Two days after my menstration started.
My ob/gyn mentioned migraines as a symptom birth control can manage, so maybe that’s why they were so rare during my anemic phase (on bc for safety)? Or maybe my anemia stopped them, and how that I’m healthy it’s started up again? Or the intersection of massive stress/menstration, although given my life I’d have more to my guess...
So, yeah, my life. Fun.
