A cold start Wednesday
It is very cloudy day here but I captured a little sunrise color today. My brother is still here so I don’t know what is on the agenda today. He hasn’t been around here for a bunch of years since moving up north so maybe we’ll cruise around and look at stuff. 😃
We might be bumming around but we won’t be walking around, it’s only 16F degrees (-8C) outside 🥶
Happy Hump Day guys 👍
So this morning I spotted something I didn't expect to see on such a cold February day. A first opened primrose flower.
It was too far to snap a picture, but I thought to myself: if there are primroses here, there might be crocuses in the forest.
I waited until afternoon, hoping weather would pick up, and then I went to the forest to forage for chickweed. And I found them. The first crocuses:
It's so cold and cloudy they wouldn't open but they're here! I found 8 in total in the forest. Spring is coming!

Brrrrrrr! Too Cold to Go to Work Today.
It is currently -4F, with potential -30 windchills here in Milwaukee today. So, Special Collections, the UWM Libraries, and 95% of UWM Campus will be closed today, January 21, 2025, because of extreme temperature conditions. We're just hunkering down in our cozy little cottages for the day, and hopefully we'll see y'all tomorrow.
