We are starting Saturday with a lot less smoke this morning. This morning’s pic was taken at 7:04am.

I went outside without my mask and it didn’t smell too bad. The air quality number was down to 98.

Let’s hope it stays this way. It’s already warm and very muggy out there. ☹️

Yeah, it’s been kinda smokey here. Last night Froggie put some chicken strips out in the mailbox and now today we got jerky to munch on. 😂

Happy Frog Friday 🐸

Froggie and I both got masked up to go out and check on the garden.

I got a couple nice green bell peppers growing, although they seem kinda small. They will still taste good. It still looks the same outside but the air quality number is up to 500 Hazardous now.

I masked up and got groceries at Walmart earlier. I will be staying in now.

Sunrise here was actually one hour before I took this morning’s shot.

I need some groceries so I will have to mask up and head to the store.

A Corny Post 🤣

I took this first picture yesterday before all the wildfire smoke rolled in. 💨

This is the corn crop that is planted next to me, just to the south. Compare this picture to the one I posted on July 4th. The corn is much higher in just two weeks. The reach of the top of my hand is just short of eight feet.

It has been very hot and dry here and a lot of corn leaves will curl up for some protection from the sun. When it rains, they will flatten back out. We are not due to get any rain here for two more days. There are no ears on these yet.

Today I had to go outside to get the mail and wash and fill the birdbath. 👇

The smoked has thinned a little bit since my shot yesterday in this same direction. This will be my only trip out until it’s time to water.

Good morning everyone, it doesn’t matter which way you look this morning, all you can see is smoke.

This morning’s shot is looking north, but it looks the same looking east. There was no visible sunrise today. It stinks outside. I do not have anywhere that I must go, so I think I will stay right here for now. I have a Kn95 mask to wear if I must go out, like even to the mailbox.

The wildfire smoke has arrived

and boy is it thick. 🫥

The first tree line is about a third of a mile out. Even before that the haze is thick. The smell is even getting into the house.

I will be wearing a mask for watering tonight.

The smoke is getting thick. I've never seen it this bad. I had to tape a garbage bag over my air conditioner as the house was smelling like smoke. That didn't help so much; the house smells like smoke anyway. This is the pits.

More of Wednesday chores-

I got out front and did more snipping and cleaning. It is starting to look a little better but it was getting hot already. I cleaned out around and under the Spirea and I still got a few flowers on them. The second pic is the hosta flowers out front.

I watched a video on pruning tomato plants and tried my hand at that. As I was pruning I thought I kept hearing a little voice underneath saying ow-ow son of a bitch 😂. At least the underside has a little more ventilation now.

The last one is of a scruffy looking robin I caught just before it flew away out back. The wildfire smoke is getting closer, it’s only about 70 miles north and closing in fast. 🙁

Got some colors for Hump Day 😁

I had to walk way out in that ninety percent humidity to get this sunrise shot. Tonight is supposed to be even a prettier sky. I will be looking for sunset colors tonight because the winds are supposed to be bringing in some Canadian wildfire smoke. The colors should be awesome.

I got some trimming done out front yesterday but had to quit after a while. One of the reasons was that I cut into the electric cord with the hedge trimmers. Yup, you guessed it, not the first time I ever did that. 😂 I need to do some hand snipping this morning.

It is not supposed to be as hot today as it was yesterday. No cooking was done yesterday, I had beef stew out of a can, plus I munched on some fresh broccoli. 🥦

How hot was it, yeah that hot 🥵

I was out early to get my shrub trimming done. The first shot ☝️was taken at 3 in the afternoon. I also snipped a couple small pieces off that plant here in back that was in the way of my birdbath shots. Better now 👇

We have some different visitors tonight, getting in a little splash time.

Here comes a bad one 😐

The humidity is thick this morning and today will be hotter than yesterday. We are starting at 70F degrees (21c) and 86% humidity. Yuck

I am going to try and get a couple small bushes trimmed this morning, but I’m going to have to work fast. I had to fill the birdbath many times yesterday as it is very dry here. Below is a pic of a rare occurrence here. 👇

Last night was a very busy time in the bath. Here are three birds but I was trying to get a shot of the one on the far left. He was a red wing blackbird and it moved around very fast. You can’t see much red here. ☹️

The surprising thing is that it was here at all. You usually start to see there guys after you ride your bike a half mile north, once you start getting away from all the houses. Word must be getting out, there’s water down there. I will be watching. 🙄

It’s a hot mid Michigan afternoon 🌞

This is the temperature in the shade ☝️with my new thermometer. This was at 4:00 in the afternoon. Just below it and out of focus is the birdbath. Below are close shots.

This is a very busy place today, I have had to fill this twice. Water is flying all over the place.

I was filling this last night and a robin must have been very thirsty because I had only moved six feet away, was still watering the garden next to it, and mom robin came right up anyway. We must be building up a trust. She had a long drink of water.

I took about 25 minutes this morning to finish mowing the front before it got super hot.

I’m staying inside now. 🥵

Very early Monday 😵‍💫

I am up before the crack of dawn today because I could barely sleep. I know I am gonna crash later. This is how things looked at 5:50am.

Today is going to be a very hot day and I will be staying inside mostly. I got the rest of the back side of the yellow shed painted last night. I knew this hot day was coming and wanted to get that side done. I thought I had been staying hydrated yesterday but still felt all dried out. Had much trouble with a plugged head and breathing last night.

Starting out today with some ginger peach herbal tea. 🍵

Not ready for caffeine yet 🙁

I did a “Marie Antionette” to that broccoli head 😂

Had fresh broccoli for dinner, with some for tomorrow. 😋

All I gotta do now is wait for the side sprouts to start popping out.

I read that the leaves are also loaded with too, although I never had those. 💪

Monday is fast approaching, are you guys ready?

Here I am, out here mowing the backyard, trying to scare up some lunch for my robin friends. Yeah look at that, not a robin in sight. 🤨

Don’t be giving me those dirty looks later on when you can’t find and bugs.

Good morning everyone from the rock garden

My Hosta is starting to flower. The flower is out of focus a bit because the thing shot up to chin high. (see next pic)

That is one happy looking plant. I did a little more snipping on the crabapple tree this morning. I am trying to clean out the tangled up mess that it has gotten to.

There are other things that I should do today but my motivation is very low now. Did not sleep well last night. 🫤
