Winter Van Life Tips:
Here are some winter van tips and hacks for all those who are in colder climates!
1. Cover Your windows and insulate well. Use all the space you have for insulation and choose an insulation that fits the needs of your van. You can also add removable or permanent covers for your windows made from insulation to help keep the cold out and the warmth in.
2. Wear warm layers to stay warm, and a hat and gloves if it is very cold inside. Thick wool and down blankets are good for this.
3. Cover your windshield wipers with old socks to stop snow from sticking to them. you can also get special windshield covers to put on the outside of the windshield so you can just pull the snow and ice off in the morning!
4. If you get stuck and have no traction, use your car mats to try to help you get unstuck.
5. Use a heat rub that you would use for your muscles to help loosen a frozen lock.
6. Electric blankets take up very little energy and can be a lifesaver in cold weather in your van.
7. Use a hot water bottle to keep you warm and keep your blankets warm all night.
8. Find somewhere warm to stay for a few nights if it’s really cold. you can stay at hotels, hostels, air bnb’s, or even cabins at year-round campgrounds.
