Learning to love || cold-charisma
The words kept playing over and over in Sigyn’s mind, plaguing each and every thought and plaguing her heart as she sat on her martial bed with her knees pulled up to her chest. Her wedding day was supposed to be joyous, to be a day to celebrate and remember. Well…She was not going to forget it any time soon but all she could associate with the wedding ceremony right now was the feeling of despair and humiliation.
Nothing, however, had felt worse than the awkward walk to Loki’s chambers. The traditional bedding ceremony, where the bride was taken to her husband’s chambers and sat in waiting for him to join her. Then her husband had entered and removed her bridal crown, passing it to one of the six witnesses who could confirm they went to bed together opposed to with someone who was not their spouse. The witnesses; Odin, Thor, Frigga, Njord, Freyja and Freyr had left after that, leaving the new couple very much alone.
Sigyn hadn’t moved since she sat down, her chin resting upon her knees as she stared at the wall across the room; lost in her own thoughts and sorrow. Theoric had been dead for no longer than two weeks and already she was sat in another man’s bed. Yes, the other man, Loki was technically her husband but she felt no love…Or did she? After all, for two weeks prior to the wedding, Theoric had been exceedingly tentative but that had turned out to be Loki, not Theoric…
Her eyes closed and she finally moved but only a fraction. She moved only to move her chin from her knees so she could bury her face into them instead.
No. She did not love Loki but she was now his wife and she would remain as such until death did them part. She had sworn to Odin she would be faithful, that she did not wish to see Loki punished for his actions. Her devotion to her husband and earned her a title. Goddess of Loyalty. In the last few hours, her whole world had been flipped.
She had married a man she held no affections for, been blessed as a Goddess and technically become a Princess by rights of marriage.
Anyone else would have been ecstatic. Goddess and Princess, what wonderful titles. Yet, Sigyn felt no joy, no happiness, just a strange emptiness in her chest.
