He still wore his wedding band with pride, despite the fact his marriage was in the process of ending. Amanda had moved out months ago, and though Stephen tried to do everything in his power to put their relationship back on track again, he failed. Time and time again. He knew eventually he would have to let all of his friends in on his secret, but until he could process himself what was happening, he planned to keep everything a secret until then. To help take his mind off of what was happening, he agreed to pay his friend Jon a visit, taking a plane to Vegas to meet up with the other man. “I should really be social distancing, but I could never turn down a beer and a good time,” he texted out to the Ohio native. “I’m heading your way now, bud. See you in a few.” He sent in one last text before jumping into a cab and making the short ride to Jon’s place.

He’d been patient. He knew Jon, knew him better than most. But it had been two weeks since his best friend, his brother from another mother, had moved to Florida for the near future, and no text. He’d only found out about the move through social media a week ago. It was time to take this into his own hands.

The night Colby shared with Jon was one of the best nights of his life. The last time he remembered being so happy was with the other man, and now he was back in his life once again. Oh, so he thought, because the moment he got back home he was hit with a hard dose of reality. He found Becky in his home moving a few more things out, and somehow in the process she convinced him to give her another chance. He did so for the sake of their unborn child, but it seemed no matter how hard he tried he couldn’t shake Jon from the back of his mind. Or what happened between them in their last encounter. Weeks passed and all that happened between the two were a few simple text messages. A ‘hey’ here and there but nothing special. He sighed heavily as he watched the Ohio native do his thing on Dynamite one night. It was then he knew what he needed to do. “I need to see him,” he thought to himself before deciding right then and there to surprise his friend with a visit.

It was the start of November and already the Iowan was over everything. He had broken up with his girlfriend, and because of it he was forced to go to a Comic Con event along. The plan had been the two would do everything together, but the moment their relationship ended, somehow Becky managed to get out and on to another project. Colby sat there, waiting for his next signing to start up, alone, watching as the many people in costumes walked by, many with their significant others. The last person he expected to see was Jon. He watched as the other man neared his table, unable to stop himself from making a smart remark once the other man was within hearing distance of his table. “They just let anyone do these things now, eh?”

It had been another successful night of A.EW and how was Schuyler ending his night? Trying to record a video on TikTok. “Let’s go.” He mouthed along to the tune of the music, quickly shaking his head after the video was done. “nah, this ain’t going to cut it.” He said before glancing up to see Jon had walked into the locker room. “Ay, the champ is in the building.” He said with a grin as he stood to his feet to give the other man a proper greeting. “I saw your match earlier, bro, you killed it. Are you ready for this Saturday?”

it was towards the end of summer break and Stephen was in his classroom getting things ready for the beginning of the school year. He was working on his packets that told his students about his class and where they or more likely their parents could reach him if they would need to. He was making sure he had them laid out properly by class and was working on stapling them when he heard a knock.

Of course he wouldn't answer like a normal human, the newcomer found him cursing because he'd just given himself a papercut. "OW. Shit! Oh, uh sorry... didn't know anyone else was here. Come on in."

Colby lay in his bed, if you could call it that. It was a single, like he needed a reminder that he was alone in here. And it was just long enough for him to lay down without his feet sticking off the end. The worst parts so far had been the food and the stupid orange uniform. Luckily no one had come close to catching his eye, for better or worse, then again he hadn't been looking, he'd been focused on keeping his head down and not getting his ass kicked.
