The soft mantle of this moon made it an alluring private prospecting location. Dean/Cole sketchy thing because reasons.

The thing is, I really don’t see Cole as a kind of character who would learn monsters exist and then just leave it. Maybe for a while, but then he would start thinking what if they came after his family? He has run into them many times now, and it always seems completely random, so what if?

So I think he would call Dean and after some convincing Dean would agree to teach him a thing or two about saving people, hunting things, family business, you know the drill. While at it, they would actually become friends and then Cole would occasionally join him for hunts nearby. They would share a beer afterwards and just be friends and happy at that.
