Coleman G.I. Pocket Stove made in 1947 Jan-June. This is not firing up. There was a funny smell in the case. I'm wondering if someone tried to use the wrong fuel in it? The tank was empty and I can see the bottom with my flashlight but it stunk. Maybe old gas smell? But different, I don't know what Kerosene smells like. I used only.Coleman fuel in it when I tried to light it. Anyway I'm going to see if I can send it away to get it serviced because if I start messing with it I'm likely to break it. I Ive tightened all the joints. I don't get any fuel leaking anywhere. I've cleaned it, oiled the piston, even used a different fuel cap from my 533 because the original was hissing when I pumped it up. The 533 cap sealed the tank and it gained pressure, I could feel it in the piston. But it wouldn't light. I saw other people have a little bit of fuel actually come out at the top into the cup but none from mine it just hisses. So the air is escaping but its not drawing any fuel up the line. If you have any ideas I'd love to hear them. On Monday I'm calling the Old Coleman Parts Store and see what they say about it. Hopefully its maybe just replacing the piston assembly which looks like I could do myself with a new part as I feel it could get more pressure going when compared to the pressure I get from. My 533 stove.
