Farrier proposed to Collins when the war ended, even though they couldn't get married legally. That's a fact.

Um, YES. 

I think Farrier would have loved to give Collins an actual church marriage because he thinks Collins deserves that but they either exchange vows privately or have a trusted friend administer them and it is 1000% real and just as good in their eyes. 

Collins is super proud to be married to someone as dashing as Farrier and he has to remember to contain himself and not tell everybody he meets about it.
