Very Best Cover Tournament Redux

The first tournament this blog ran was for the the Very Best Cover, but in all the polls, we never voted on the frank comparison of each cover versus the original version. This special feature will allow voters to determine which version of the song is better: its original incarnation, or the cover that competed in the tournament.

Note that some of the original recordings will be deep cuts the listener is unfamiliar with, because a cover (whether the one that competed in the tournament, or another) is more famous.

Ok, I saw your post of this said you were skipping Old Gods of Asgard/Poets of the Fall but I am under no such restriction. ;)

An original song by Colm McGuinness (this video has brief clips of video games with flashing)

This year, Colm McGuinness has been releasing original songs, in various genres, inspired by different video games. I've enjoyed all of them. But as I'm not a gamer, most of the references to the storylines in each game fly right over my head.

This song, a pop ballad from the perspective of an NPC, doesn't have that problem. And as a real life person with a marginalized identity, it hit home.
