Seen a lot of (well earned) condemnation of the hairstyles on the female characters in the upcoming Sense and Sensibility adaptation, but I haven't seen nearly enough scorn for the fact that Colonel Brandon has a beard.
A BEARD. In the Regency era?!? No gentleman would ever!

Marianne Dashwood and Colonel Brandon (Sense and Sensibility (1995))
Aramis and Queen Anne (BBC Musketeers)
Submission message for Marianne and Brandon: Absolutely loved Marianne's free spirit and musical/artistic talents. She's very headstrong and sometimes that gets her into trouble but I think that independence of hers just makes her even more charming. And Colonel Brandon is such a kind, doting, and patient man. Plus, Alan Rickman's voice? Him sitting by her sickbed and reading to her when poetry is one of her favorite things? I could listen to him for hours. I think my heart would fly away.
Submission message for Aramis and Queen Anne: They have a secret affair! Their chemistry is so good! Ugh I was so hooked on them!
Okey last S&S post of the night is gonna be about our boy Colonel Brandon. I'm curious how common full beards were among the gentry. I'm sure there were folks who wore them but I wonder how they were perceived
Also the best part of the trailer was when Brandon grabbed Willoughby by the collar and lifted him like a ragdoll. Even tho it was OOC especially the shouting. I can maaaaybe see Brandon grabbing him like that in certain contexts but i feel like he'd appear really calm
Anyway reblog if you also wish Colonel Brandon would toss you around and yell in your face
