i think the most unsettling thing about Col. Lacy is how calm he is…how calmly convicted that no price is too high for the glory.

we see angry people in places of leadership, brash and loud, seemingly unable to rationalize even in their own heads why they do what they do—just doing it and hoping no one questions it.

but Lacy is friendly. evangelical, even, in his manner of speaking.

uncanny in how real he feels.
