I've been playing around with different color mixes these past few days. I always like to pair muted colors with a couple of dark or vibrant ones. It's always been a fascination to me how colors can affect your moods. They can bring joy, happy memories or even sadness at one point. I just love to see how I can tone down the chroma of each colors that sometimes can be challenging especially if they are too pigmented or strong to start with. . If you guys are wondering the process how I do this, I just identify colors by their color temperature. Whether they are warm or cool color. A color that has more blue or green in it is considered as cool, a color that has more red or yellow in it is considered as warm. So for example, a Viridian is considered cool because it has more blue in it, a Scarlet is considered warm because it has more yellow in it. . Then of course I just need to know the basic knowledge of the color wheel, like identifying which ones are complimentaries. If I want to mute a color, I will add a little bit of its complimentary color, if I want to neutralize them then mix a 50/50 ratio since complimentary colors cancel each other out. If I want to lighten it then I add white. Btw, this mixing is for opaque paints hence the addition of white but if you want to mix this with watercolors instead of adding white you simply add water to lighten the color. . I hope this helps somehow in your color mixing, but the best teacher really is yourself. It's better to try them so that you can really see how it goes. Try also altering the ratio so instead of 50/50 ratio you can do 60/40, 70/30 and so on. • • • • • #color #colorswatches #colorpalette #colorcombinations #colormixing #gouache #postercolor #paints #calligrafikas #dreweuropeo https://www.instagram.com/p/CPx4UBiDRmB/?utm_medium=tumblr

Mastering Color Combinations Tips for Using the Color Wheel in Your Projects
Mastering color combinations can significantly enhance your design skills and enable you to produce captivating visuals. The color wheel serves as an essential resource that illustrates the relationships between various colors, guiding you in making strategic decisions for your projects.
Here’s how to effectively utilize this tool:
Primary Colors
The essential building blocks of the color wheel—Red, Blue, and Yellow—are the source of all other colors. Employ these hues boldly to create impactful designs!
Secondary Colors
By blending primary colors, we obtain secondary colors: Green, Orange, and Purple. Incorporating these shades can infuse your palette with vibrancy when combined with primary hues.
Tertiary Colors
Tertiary colors emerge from the combination of a primary color and a secondary color, resulting in Red-Orange, Yellow-Orange, Yellow-Green, Blue-Green, Blue-Purple, and Red Purple. These shades add richness and nuance to your visual compositions.
Complementary Colors
Colors positioned directly opposite each other on the wheel, such as blue and orange, produce a striking contrast when paired. This technique is ideal for highlighting specific elements within your designs.
Analogous Colors
These colors, which are adjacent to one another on the color wheel (like blue, blue-green, and green), foster a sense of tranquility and cohesion. They are particularly suited for branding and interior design applications.
Triadic Colors
Utilizing a triadic color scheme involves selecting three colors that are evenly spaced around the color wheel. This approach ensures a balanced yet dynamic palette, perfect for creating visually engaging designs.
