Here’s the FINAL #foil #variant for the @pixiesofficial #gigposter. I was commissioned by the band and @mrtsurt to design the #poster for their show at @BlossomMusicCtr in #CuyahogaFalls! . The contest is over. THANK YOU to all the people that read through all the crap I ramble on about and guessed #GUSTAVKLIMT ! Your prints have been shipped! Tag a brotha once you get them!!! . I’m A HUGE fan of the #ArtNouveau and #Secession movements from the early 1900’s The birth of commercial illustration came from those periods!!! When trying to come up with ideas for this project (and another) I had a bunch of books on #Klimt #AlphonseMucha and a book (I stole from the art school I dropped out of) on the turn-of-the-century magazine #VerSacrum “I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany!” . I was HEAVILY influenced by one of my favorite Klimt paintings - “The Water Nymphs”. AKA I stole from the best! When I first heard “Is She Weird” by #thePixies I always imagined a woman’s head floating around searching for her body. Because of these lyrics: “Is she weird, is she white? Is she promised to the night? And her head has no room” . I REALLY enjoyed working on this poster. It felt good to just try something different than what I’m used to. It freaked me out too. Trying new shit is uncomfortable. When I held the print in my hand though - I felt very proud. The colors I spec’d came out exactly how I had hoped and I was stoked to see I sep’d the colors correctly. I’ve been doing my own #colorseps for most of my career and each time I stress out. Wondering if the printer will do a good job or if I forgot something and didn’t notice it until it was already printed. . Thanks to everyone for the positive response from the previous post. It seemed like the right time to open up about the process of making this poster. . Hope you dig! I drank too much coffee! .
