Dude, you’re so right. I’m starting to imagine like, while everyone is stuck in this weird in-between land where they all exist together, that there’s a little temporary school for all the kiddos and they’re all in the school yard circled around the viruses (who don’t even go to the school because they’re dangerous or whatever). But everyone is gathered around just like “tell us about him! is he actually an eight foot monster like everyone says? what does he smell like? can you bring him for show and tell? tell us everything.”

I like the idea that it starts becoming like a challenge for the kids in the town to see if they can spot him. LoC Dan ends up becoming a living urban legend -au anon

Whenever there are like sleepovers with the kids around town, there’s like ghost stories told about him. And there’s always that one kid that’s like “no I swear, I saw him and he said things to me,” and everyone else is like “shut up, no you did not.”

what if while the amazing frog arin and dan are jumping around the start seeing LoC dan in trees/ up cliffs and they start waving at him and shouting hello and stuff - au anon

At first Danny is startled and immediately hides deeper into the branches/mountain. After all, he’s trying not to be found. But all they every shout is “hi!” or “lovely day, isn’t it?” so after a while he starts gingerly waving back and he’s not even sure they can see it when he does, but it’s the only company that he doesn’t feel hassled by (other than the kiddos).

Oh! I got a weird idea (just cause I know how bad I felt after playing SotC and like FUCK I JUST WANT MY GF AFTER ALL MY HARD WORK) So what if Loc Dan and virus Arin get super close cause Dan still treats him like his Arin and coddles him and stuff and Arin knows. So when Dan is trying to pry himself away from the pool thing (that when he gets sucked in will turn him into a baby and rid the evil and stuff), all the viruses are yelling and trying to save him cause he's their friend. pt.1

pt.2 and somehow, Virus Arin takes his evil demon shit and everyone is so confused to what he's doing and he just starts crying and says "Go get your Arin, okay? I know how much you love him" and sacrifices himself to save LoC Dan sort of. LoC Arin wakes up and practically tackles Dan in a hug, but Virus Dan and Barry walk over and Arin is basically... dead in a sense? He was never really a human, he was a virus so he's reverted back to the most basic state when Brian first started making them.

pt.3 LoC Dan tries to comfort them and stuff, but eventually Virus Dan and Barry go to Brian and tell him what happened. And they say if he remakes Arin, they'll give themselves up. Brian acts al sly about it at first, until he sees Dan and barry actually crying. Like, he knows they have emotions but... he didn't think he'd become to emotionally invested in these kids essentially who are willing to live their life in a lab just to see their best friend again.

pt.4 (jeez, this is long) Brian spends a long time making Virus Arin again, but he can't still give him any of his memories or things like that. He sighs and tells Danny and Barry that's the best he can do, but... even though he's different in a biological sense... the second virus Arin meets Dan and Barry, he runs up and hugs them super tight. When they ask him why, he shrugs and says "there's something nagging in the back of my mind tell me I should" (OKAY IM DONE NOW IM SORRY) 

Long? Yeah. Worth it? Totally. My friend, if there was a medal for ripping out my heart then miraculously making it worth it in the end, you would have it. (That doesn’t sound like a good thing, but it is, promise.)

This is like the easiest way for everyone to have a happy ending and it’s making me SERIOUSLY EMOTIONAL. But like, I’m thinking about demon virus Arin and like, dude, do you realize how dangerous it would be for a virus entirely based on aggression and irritation to have any kind of evil spirit-bullshit inside it?

I imagine that Arin just becomes this entirely malign virus with no moral code and all of his love/happiness/all those positive emotions would be just replaced with unbridled anger and a need to fulfill his purpose--infection. So--even more heartbreaking probs--they would then have to subdue Arin and force him to go back to that basic form and then recreate him.

I think we just created a full three-act film or something. This is glorious. You are a beautiful soul, thank you.

(spoiler, delete this ask if you haven't finished the game!) Wait, if this is shadow of he colossus, wouldn't Dan save Arin but like, fucking turn into a baby at the end? Unless everything sorta changed around and he got help from other timelines so he wouldn't have to become a demon and shit

I haven’t played the game, but I wikipedia’d the plot earlier so I am aware (and I’m also currently trying to catch up on the grumps playthrough). I will tag it, though, in case other people don’t want to be spoiled!

As for your very important question: I imagine I’d keep that ending because it’s pretty interesting, actually? I mean, demon baby Danny? Doesn’t that sound entertaining as hell to you? But then it’d kind of be a bit of a role reversal with the whole Arin having to worry about Danny instead of the other way around (though at least Danny is alive).

I dunno, I’m up for suggestions, though!

Oh my god. There is so much to wrap my head around! Okay! So: When Virus!Dan and LoC!Dan go on the adventure, Arin and Barry end up in this awkward situation where they need Virus!Brian to help, but he isn't around. Or, something more traumatic happens. (Hmmmm???)

Aw man, you’re tellin’ me! I’m also trying to watch the grump Shadow of the Colossus playthrough (which I shamefully haven’t seen) at the same time. And I’m watching it at 1.5% speed bc I’m trying to understand the actual plot of this game as much as I can. SO MUCH COLOSSUS.

Arin and Barry are probably holed up in containment tubes, where they were meant to stay and not infect people so Brian’s put them back there. But I mean, you know they’re trying to escape at the same time that the Dannys are trying to take down Brian and save them. So I mean, the odds are great for Brian, but he’s gonna put a fight up.

Yeah it's Shadow of Colossus, i just got mixed up with Legend of Zelda, my bad. But Danny would go on a rampage. And now that everyone's seen what he can do, they are abjectly terrified of him. Brian doesn't stand a chance. Danny is so pissed. He's guilty and bruised and he's probably gonna pass out once he gets his virus kiddos back but until then he's not going to let anybody stand in his way.

I can imagine Danny just running on 100% adrenaline during the entire quest to get his babes back. (He has a real problem with getting way too attached to the people around him, doesn’t he?)

But, don’t forget, Brian’s got the home court advantage. Danny doesn’t know his way around the lab, much less where Barry and Arin are being held, what kind of chemicals are within grabbing distance for Brian to use against him. Danny’s got that brute strength and agility, but Brian’s definitely got a bit of an advantage and they’re both matched in the idea that they’re doing the right thing. So Brian isn’t just going to surrender.
