Unity Vs Community:
White and Green mana on the group
To preface this: this is my first go at this sort of essay, and I really don't know what I'm doing. It will be a bit shit.
Fundamentally, I would say that the distinction in veiw is between unity and community. That is to say, White mana tends to see a group as a single unit that contains people, whilst Green sees it as many people acting together. This is why White mana, in my veiw, is the most disposed to authoritarian rule amongst the colour pie — it doesn't always see the importance of the individual.
This loss of, or lack of emphasis on, individuality is something that whilst present could be explored more. Often, White is treated as a 'good guys' colour in MTG. Its mechanical and thematic focus on collaboration often lends a more moral appearance. It also has a lot of heroes, but in a sense this is an aspect of the loss of individuality. They are expected to sacrifice themselves for the good of the whole, because so often to White mana their individual lives aren't that important.
Again, this suffers a bit from White-as-the-good-guys. Characters who are supposed to be heroes tend not to be that callous, because we are meant to be rooting for them, but to the mana itself it just... isn't that big a deal. So what if one, ten, a hundred people die if the group survives? The greatest extreme of this is Elesh Norn. That White-as-villans is one of my favourite things about New Phyrexia.
I can't think of any mono-Green groups of the same sort off the top of my head, but the closest is probably ecosystems — the idea of many things together, but still in competition. Part-green groups also lend themselves to this, particularly the freedom of the Gruul. In a way, this is more a matter of general philosophy; this post by @littjara-mirrorlake describes the way in which Green supports indkividuality, even within larger organisations. In a way, White cannot see the forest for the trees, whilst Green knows that only the trees are real — the forest only describes that they are together.
