Drawing saturation

So if you are wondering, I have recently discovered how to saturate my art, and I want to show that technique to the world. If you are wondering, you do NOT need to use Procreate to do this technique. Fun fact: I don’t own Procreate because my tablet does not support it. The app I use is called sketchbook. It is a great free alternative to Procreate and it should be compatible on any touch screen device.

So I am going to use my Starkie drawing for this example. Here is what the drawing looks like without the saturation:

As you can see, there is more colour pop to it. It is not necessarily a bad thing because some drawings look better without saturation. However, I decided to saturate this drawing to give it a more aesthetically pleasing look.

To start, create a new layer to experiment with the way you want to saturate.

Next, use a brush. Don’t use any brush at full opacity. I would recommend using a darker colour, but not fully black. Any brush can be used, but my favourite brush is circled in the following photo:

Then, fill in the layer until the drawing is as saturated as you please. The circled layer in the photo down below is the layer I used my saturation for. 

Here is the final product, it looks super aesthetically pleasing in my opinion:
