I’m blue

so i know this has already been posted. So not mine. Just a compact version of the theories i’ve been reading. So all couples together. But also all couples are wearing blue, all but el.

Why Pink and Blue?

My animations main themes link back to the colour theory lessons and lectures we were given in first year. 

Pink: 

Whilst the colour pink or a ‘light’ red, represents the ideas around nurturing and caring, compassion and love, it’s also a colour that is visually associated with femininity and women/girls and those we identify as such. Thinking about my interviews and how people view nostalgia as ‘looking through rose tinted glasses’ this pink colour, was the perfect way to represent these ideas. My character and perspective is one deeply routed in the fact that I am a woman, where as the colour suggested that I/the character are caring or sensitive. 

Blue:

For my second colour I wanted a colour that not only complimented the pink undertones of my animation and ideas but also symbolised a sense of faith or sadness. Blue is often considered to be connected with the feelings of sorrow, such as the saying “feeling blue”, suggests. It’s also, more recently, been modified to be associated with Men or the ‘confidence’ and ‘loyalty’ that these ideas and traditions suggest. The feeling of sadness or loss associated with blue, also  made it the perfect relative for my pink, as nostalgia is often inflicting sadness onto oneself. 

Pink and Blue are also complimentary colours on the colour wheel, making it easy to merge these colours, as well as not create a colour palette that’s too harsh on the eyes.
