It‘s pretty obvious, but yes, I do own the most beautiful horse.
Even with a grass filled paddock he's still coming to say hi 🥰
Adventures today was a solo walk into the village. We were very brave and mostly interested in snacks.
We did our first dressage in a year. And our first since completely overhauling our approach to riding.
We got 69% and 71.2%. A year ago we were struggling to make 65%. We got THREE 8s. We got 7.5s in both tests for cooperation and riders aids. We got comments of:
"Confident and established in movements"
"Horse showing confidence and harmony with rider"
We got 7.5s for MEDIUM CANTER. Medium canter! My solid coblet got a 7.5!
I'm so giddy and happy 😁
Slow and steady hack today.
Blue and I are moving next week. Blue's been at my friend's yard since he was 6 months old, and I've had him for the last 8 years. She did a huge amount for me in the beginning, she was my horsey mum and I learned a lot. Somewhere over time though it's degraded. Snide comments, passive aggressiveness, and more and more frequent unstated demands and explosions because you didn't read her mind. She likes control and to feel like she's doing A Good Thing and as I've grown and learned more she has less and less control. Coupled with her having now two youngsters that kept decking her so not enjoying her horses while being jealous of me enjoying mine its been, Not Good.
Last weekend I was housesitting for her (for free), and left, as agreed, at 8am the last morning to go to work. When she got home instead of "thank you" I got "I would have thought you'd have mucked out the stables but I suppose that's too much to expect", followed by a rant about how much she does for me (I pay her, she insists she wants to do it, and often does it even when explicitly told I will do it) and how ungrateful I am. It wasn't the worst thing she's done, but it is the last. Problem solved, you won't have to do anything for me again.
We've found a new yard, 10 minutes away, and we move next Friday. I'm finding it hard, not because it's the wrong decision, it isn't, but there's a strange mix of grief and relief and it's a lot of change and unknown. It will be good, but right now it's hard.
