BEFORE AND AFTER COLOURING CHALLENGE i was tagged by @sophsun1, thank you for tagging me!! i've been wanting to do another one of these for a while so this was perfect timing.

these are some unused gifs that didn't make it into my recent gifsets.

my colouring style has always been pretty basic/realistic, i've been giffing for over a decade and i just learned what channel mixer does LMAO so i really just stick to simple colouring. lately i've been working hard on balancing yellow/blue tones while still keeping the colours true to life or as close to the original scene as possible, but i also like experimenting occasionally and messing around with complete colour changes, like in the last gif. am i good at it? not really. but it's fun!

I never save my psd's unless it's for a particularly hard scene I've manged to conquer and the psd can be used again in general. These are all coloured from scratch as I gif them. This is a selection of things I happened to gif recently. As you can see it's either a really, badly lit show with no lighting, fighting against red/yellow filters or if you're really lucky, both!

I often forget to save .psds of my work because...eh it takes too much time and interrupts my workflow, so usually I only save the first gif in a set to save the colourings in case I'm interrupted or occasionally if I have one clip that I want to split into two gifs, and even then I often forget.

Colouring is the thing I struggle with most (waves in colourblindness), so I don't actually know how much of a difference my colouring makes, though I tend to enhance those aquas and oranges cause blue's what I see best, and I just like orange.

I'm incredibly bad at tagging people, so tagging @astarionisms @edjerse @mulderscully if you feel like it, and then anyone else who sees this and wants to partake, consider yourself tagged.

BEFORE & AFTER COLOURING CHALLENGE 🎨

Tysm for the tag! This was fun to do though I do class myself as a baby gifmaker in training lol. I'm still learning new techniques everyday and trying to improve my colouring. But hopefully people can see what I'm working with before they get the finished product and why gifmaker's rightfully get so upset when people steal/criticise/repost our work which seems to have gotten worse these days. I don't save my psd's unless they're for a particularly hard scene I've managed to conquer colouring. I chose a selection of shows I currently gif the most - yellow filters are the devils work and my most hated thing to get rid of which seems to plague the majority of shows these days alongside really dark scenes.

I gif a lot of queer as folk which is a type of hell itself and to anyone who has ever done the same you understand what I mean trying to gif a show that was filmed with zero lighting and that's before you attempt a Babylon scene!

Anyway here's my attempt!

this took me so long to do because i didn’t know how to show both the old and new colourings so that shows you how good of a gif maker i am🙈 (thanks noa!!!)
