#isolationartschool , #isolationcreation , An #abstractpainting called 'Insomnia' oil and acrylic on canvas 51 X 70 cm. Think it is finished? Developed from a photo of a #mondrian style print left on walls in our 1930s house discovered when decorating, and progressed through a response to the Mondrian #colourrules and other #bauhausdesign pieces I saw on a study trip to #newyork in February with @strodecollegeart . I decided that the plain primary colour circles, black lines and white space were not enough, so in bouts of early morning and late night work I added more colour and texture as a meditation to counter my exhaustion due to lack of sleep and juggling lots of projects . Enjoyed #creativeplay with the paint and different #markmaking methods of applying it. Tools used included brushes, palette knives, my fingers, a cloth and an unused #creditcard . Messy but fun! It was a new and liberating experience to completely disrupt a rigid clean line image with random marks and blocks of colour as I have spent many years in my creative practice so far trying to paint a reproduction of what I see and get it 'right'. Losing that fear of going into the unknown and going with the flow of a piece was very satisfying :) #originalart , #lifelonglearning , #glastonburyartist , #abstractartwork , #creativefreedom , #abbeymuseartgallery https://www.instagram.com/p/CBIaJZHFMS1/?igshid=17yu5t2t5zueb
