I was rambling about that "lost civilization" that's implied to have existed, and the thought occurred to me that the Baptismal Bath is something that most likely belonged to that group. Which nudges us a step closer to who the force behind Charged Shards actually are.

The damaged state of the charged shard generator (and a few other inventions) makes me think Marchosias didn't create them; he re-created and/or repaired them. And that's why he could make charged shards without being able to actually use them.

It's notable that Gofernon, who's been around long enough to have served Gods (who've been wiped out for hundreds of years at this point), even knows what they are and that Lamb can use them. This technology that Does Not Exist outside of Ewefall. It's also notable that Baraq doesn't task Lamb with finding Charged Shards. He just assumes it's something Lamb has on hand. A critical aspect of curing cursed yewbark.

The rot is just a type of curse; one of many. It's entirely possible that lightning counters curses period. And not just the rot specifically.

Which would be funny/odd/curious, because a curse and a blessing are technically the same thing. (It's a matter of perspective.) it's all just divine "magic". The Rotten Shepherd piece counters all blessings.
