“All I’m saying is don’t have kids. Ever. Mine got me living up to my name.” Gray told Colton. He was referring to the silver at his temples and threaded through his facial hair. It was a relatively quiet summer for his kids, but with the school year starting up, Gray was wary. The phone calls from the principal were likely to roll in on the first day; there was always one over the past seven years. Before his mood completely soured at the thought, he cast Colton a glance. Colton was quiet, usually Gray was, but with a beer in his hand this was the closest to content he usually got anymore. “So, what happened with that one couple? The one with all the snakes on their land?”
