Columbus Fire Department, GA
I am honored to have been invited to represent @womeninfire at the Campaign for Contamination Control symposium in Columbus, OH. The event was a confluence of several research projects whose goal is to collect and disseminate all the best practices for how to essentially stop firefighters from getting cancer. The truth of the matter is this: firefighters are diagnosed with cancer at staggeringly high rates when compared to the civilian population. This is directly linked to the poisonous products of incomplete combustion and unique carcinogenic hazards emergency workers are consistently exposed to. This symposium was made up of an incredible cross-section of 50 firefighters, researchers and professionals from all across the country. Our goal is to make the contamination control information easily digestible, accessible, and implementable so firefighters, stakeholders and public officials in every town can utilize these best practices to make all first responders safer. • #ProtectTheProtectors #ColumbusFD #NFPA #Firefighter #KPVFC #Iwomen #EasternDivisionTrustee (at Columbus Fire Fighters Union Local 67)
