Congratulations Scott Barnes!
The Communication Department is pleased to announce that Scott Barnes, a junior broadcast journalism major, has been selected as the next editor of ChicagoTalks, the non-profit local news source founded in 2006 by Professor Emeritus Barbara Iverson and Professor Suzanne McBride, the department chair. Scott succeeds Connor Carynski, who assisted with the redesign of the site during the summer and did an excellent job as editor in the fall. Connor is graduating at the end of the semester and we wish him the best. Scott came to Columbia this fall from Parkland College where he was a staff writer and editor for The Prospectus. He'll now be applying those editing skills to ChicagoTalks, where he will also serve as a writing coach and mentor to students. In addition to journalism, Scott studied international communication, intercultural competency and the Spanish language at the International College of Seville in Spain.
