Description
Two allegorical themes are combined in one image. In the center, the female figure sits on a classicist chair in front of a Venus figure, holding a sculptor’s hammer in her right hand. A winged Cupid is already working on the Venus, while another is busy with the torso of an antique marble figure at the bottom left. A putto on the right side of the picture is using a pole to push a column drum to the right, thus referring to the theme of architecture, corresponding to the round-arch architecture visible on the left of the picture.
