Insane Deashi-harai!
A Warrior’s Reputation
The essence of a warrior is preventive. Groups of warriors will raise large banners where they can rally and band together, for dispersed groups are easily flanked, and the moral of the opposing forces increases when they see a more opportune target. Therefore warriors must be stalwart, weakness encourages greater resistance, but by standing firm, the enemy breaks against them.
So when enemy warriors see a stalwart warrior, they anticipate the possibility of being broken. By the strength of his intention, the warrior passively intimidates, possibly preventing combat. This is the way a warrior’s courage allows him to keep his life, not through overt action, but by passive reputation.
Because the enemy knows a stalwart warrior has strength, honor, conviction, courage and never backs down. These traits are not just good for fighting, they are good at preventing enemies from beginning a fight.
And above all, there is loyalty. A warrior’s loyalty to his brother warriors marks the keystone holding up all other traits. Because when enemy warriors hear of loyalty, they know that the loyal company rallies together, the loyal line stands together and loyal warriors fight dauntlessly for their people.
By counting the cost, enemies will rarely contend a no gain scenario, but whenever they do, you will find a warrior giving the very last of himself, holding the line, fulfilling all of his brothers’ reputations. And when their reputation is so strong that even great armies avoid their land, stalwart warriors still remain vigilant as sentinels, the ever present shield of their people.
Todas las partes de la mujer se comban de la misma manera, en ellas me quiero mecer sabiendo que el viento sopla hacia dentro, que la tierra queda lejos y que mi fin es hundirme lejos de quien me espera.
