On November 18, 1989, Mystery Science Theater 3000 (mst3k) went from being a locally broadcast show on KTMA in Minneapolis, Minnesota to being a national show on the cable network Comedy Channel/Comedy Central. With the change brought other changes as "The Mads" moving to Deep 13, the beginning of the invention exchange between the Mads and their space castaway Joel and his "bots", and producer Jim Mallon taking over as the voice of the bot Gypsy. The show also went from being fully or partially ad-libbed to completely scripted and moved filming to Best Brains studios. Kevin Murphy recalled that there was only a six week window between going from "a bare studio" to producing their first two episodes. To accomplish this, everyone, including both writers and actors, worked on the set. This meant building everything and doing all the setup including the lighting. "...In hindsight, was kind of stupid, because we could have lost one or two. Would have been easy to do." Previously, they didn't get permission for the movies they riffed and that changed as well. Their first movie to riff on the new station was the Crawling Eye.

I love Drunk History. I will admit that when it first came out I thought it was a stupid idea, and I can’t stand watching drunk people. However, lately I’ve been binge watching it and at the end of the day it gives me a really good laugh and I learn some things. So, why not?
