Forgetting You
Another week, another Movie AU one-shot. This one is very loosely based on “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”, which I watched for the first time last month. (I had thought about doing Knocked Up when comedy week was first announced, but pregnancy fics are so common...)
I’m having so much fun with these holysmoaksoliver!
This one turned out more sad than I thought, but it’s hard to really get the feel of a comedy movie into a fic. But I tried. Enjoy! (This is unedited. And I only kind of read through it a second time, so hopefully it isn’t too bad.)
Forgetting You
“I’m really worried about you Felicity,” Sara said with a sigh looking around her best friend’s overly untidy apartment. “Nyssa and I both are…”
“I’m…” Felicity started around the spoon of mint chip ice cream in her mouth.
“Don’t say fine.”
“…fine.”
“You’re not fine Felicity,” Sara insisted picking up a discarded take out box of fried rice. “You haven’t left your apartment in a week. This is not okay.”
“It hasn’t been that long.”
“Yes it has. You haven’t even gone to work.”
“That’s the good thing about being a graphic designer,” Felicity replied pointing to her desk setup in the corner. “Work is right there.”
“You need to leave the apartment. Maybe you should get out of town for a while. Go on vacation. Get inspired.”
“Go on vacation? By myself? Because that doesn’t scream spinster.”
“It’s twenty-fifteen,” Sara scoffed. “No one uses the term spinster anymore. Also, you’re twenty-five, that’s far from spinsterhood.”
“Where would I go?”
“Where have you always wanted to go?”
“We…we always talked about going to Hawaii. Since I’ve never been and he loved it.”
“So go to Hawaii.”
“By myself?”
“By yourself.”
“But…”
“Don’t think about it Felicity. Just go.”
“Just go?”
“Just. Go.”
“Okay. Okay I’ll do it.”

“Welcome to the Queen of the Sea Resort,” the beautiful blue-eyed man behind the countered greeted Felicity with a warm smile. “Name and reservation number please.”
Felicity faltered, “Oh. Um, I’m Felicity. Smoak. Felicity Smoak. But I don’t, actually have a reservation. I just broke up with my boyfriend, well actually he broke up with me, after five years! I thought he was going to propose and he didn’t and my best friend convinced me to get out of town and so yeah, here I am. But I just figured I’d pick a hotel and…so here I am.”
The blue-eyes were full of laughter as they watched her and Felicity could feel the blush rising on her cheeks. “You didn’t need to know any of that. Well not the personal stuff at least, the rest of it, the needing a room part, you do but…I’m going to stop talking in 3, 2, 1…”
“Let me just check our availability here real quick.” His nametag read Oliver and Felicity used this time, while his eyes were focused on the computer in front of him to look him over. He was tall, broad shouldered and Felicity could tell that under that perfectly cut suit he was all muscle. When she finally tore her eyes away she glanced out the window and on to the pool patio.
And her world shrunk. Because she was pretty sure she was watching her very recent ex-boyfriend walking towards the lobby.
“Is that…?”
Oliver’s eyes followed her gaze to the patio and sighed. “Ray Palmer? Yeah, that’s him. Big time action movie star has the whole place crawling with excitement.”
“Shit.” Her murmured curse was just loud enough for Oliver to hear. Felicity ran her hands through her hair.
“Is everything okay Ms. Smoak?”
“Uh…”
“Felicity?” Ray’s voice broke through the haze that clouded her head. “Felicity is that you?”
“Ray,” Felicity answered with a small nod. “I…hi.”
“Hi. I didn’t know you were coming here. Did Alyssa tell you I was going to be here?”
Felicity’s brows furrowed in anger. “No. Your assistant did not tell me you were here. I just needed to get out of town for a while and since fate seems to hate me I decided to try Hawaii.”
“Baby,” an overly sweet voice called and Ray turned around with a smile. Felicity gaped as the leggy redhead sauntered up and grabbed onto Ray’s arm. “Who’s your friend?”
“Chelsea this is Felicity,” he said slowly. “My ex.”
“Oh. Oh!” Chelsea turned towards Felicity and forced a smile. “Nice to meet you. Ray’s mentioned you before…”
“That’s just great,” Felicity muttered and reached down to grab her bag. “Well I’m just going to go, yeah. And maybe just jump off a cliff. Kidding, mostly. But…”
“Ms. Smoak,” Oliver’s voice interrupted and Felicity looked at him with a grimace. “I’m sorry about the confusion, I just found your reservation. Please accept my apologies.”
“But…”
“You’re in room twelve thirty five,” he continued not letting her interrupt. “Here is your room key, it will double as your pool and private beach access. Please let us know if we can help to make your stay with us more comfortable.”
“Thanks, I will?”
“We’re going to let you get settled,” Ray said. “Enjoy your vacation Felicity.”
“Yeah.”
She couldn’t make herself not watch Ray and Chelsea walk away from her and when they were finally out of sight she turned towards Oliver with an incredulous look on her face.
“What is this?”
“Your room key.”
“But you said you were all booked up.”
“We are,” he replied. “This is the Queen Luxury suite. It’s only used for like really important guests so it sits empty most of the time. No reason why you can’t use it.”
“I can guarantee you I won’t be able to afford it.”
“It’s on me.”
“I can’t accept…”
“Yes you can.”
“Won’t you get in trouble?”
“Nope. The boss can’t get in trouble.”
“What?”
“I…my family owns this place. No one will question the boss.”
“Oliver…”
“Enjoy your week here with us Felicity. Hawaii is beautiful and it’s a good place to find yourself.”
“Is that why you’re here?”
“Why I’m here is complicated.”
“Well, thanks for this Oliver.”
“You’re very welcome Felicity.”

It had been a crazy week. Felicity learned to surf. Or she kind of learned to surf. She swam with dolphins. And she spent a large amount of time with one Oliver Queen. She ignored the deepening feelings she was beginning to have for the cute front desk clerk slash heir to the Queen Empire.
She couldn’t possibly be falling for a guy while trying to get over her stupid ex-boyfriend.
It certainly didn’t help that she kept running into Ray and his new ballerina girlfriend.
Ray had told her when he ended things that there was someone else. Felicity had no idea they’d met on set of his pet project, this stupid indie film he’d insisted on doing, despite his agent’s reluctance. Which she found out when she had Chelsea had manicures scheduled for the same time. She hadn’t known that they’d been screwing for months before Ray had the balls to end things with Felicity. And Felicity never wanted to know how romantic Chelsea thought Ray was.
If it hadn’t been for Oliver’s friendship Felicity was sure she would never had survived the week.
When she saw Chelsea in the lobby of the hotel, bags next to her as she typed on her phone it caught Felicity by surprise.
“Chelsea?” she questioned walking towards the redhead. “You and Ray heading out?”
“Oh,” she stuttered. “Just me. I need to get back to New York for a audition.”
“Without Ray.”
“God yes,” Chelsea scoffed. “I don’t know how could you stand to be around him for so long. He’s infuriating.”
“I…”
“You must be like a saint or something. Anyways, I’m leaving. He’s yours if you want him.”
“I don’t…” Felicity started, but Chelsea wasn’t listening and started walking towards the limo that pulled up to the entrance.
“What just happened?”

“She didn’t want to settle down,” Ray told Felicity a little while later. “And you know I’m ready to settle down, get married, start a family. She didn’t want that.”
“Oh…”
“I think I’ve made a huge mistake Felicity,” Ray continued and leaned in and brushed his lips over hers. “I’m so sorry. Please say you’ll forgive me.”
“Ray…”
He pressed his lips against hers more fervently. “Please forgive me.”
“Ray.” Felicity whispered as she gave in and kissed him back. She wasn’t surprised when she didn’t find the kiss appealing. She pushed against his shoulders to separate herself. “Ray stop.”
“But Felicity…”
“I forgive you,” she said simply. “But that doesn’t mean I want to get back together with you.”
She stood and walked towards the door.
“Felicity!” Ray called after her and she turned to give him a sad smile.
“Have a nice life Ray.”

Felicity Smoak cursed herself the entire flight back to Starling City. She had stupidly fallen head over heels for the charming and devilishly handsome hotel heir and then had ruined it by telling him after five days.
Now she was on her way back home. Back to real life and work and the crushing disappointment of her love life.
Sara and Nyssa greeted her at the airport with hugs and lead her towards the baggage claim.
“Felicity!”
Her head whipped back and forth after she was certain she heard her name being called. “Felicity!”
“Did you hear that?”
“What?”
“Felicity!”
“That?”
“Someone’s yelling your name.”
“I get that.”
Nyssa smirked and pointed into the crowd. “I think it’s that guy, over there by the coffee stand.”
Felicity’s eyes shot to the mentioned coffee stand and her breath caught when she recognized the bright blue eyes.
“Oliver?”
“Oliver?” Sara questioned, “Who’s Oliver.”
“This guy I met on vacation.”
“You met a guy!?”
“It’s a long storty.”
“Felicity,” Sara started but Felicity ignored her and walked towards Oliver purposefully until she was standing a foot away from him.
“Oliver? What are you doing here?”
“Figured it was time to live my own life.”
“You left the hotel?”
“I left the hotel.”
“Wow. And you came here?”
“I did.”
“Why?”
“You see,” he started, his lips turning up into an adorable smirk. “I met this really amazing women in Hawaii last week, who I’ve fallen hard for and I wanted to see if she felt the same.”
“I bet she does.”
“I really hope she does.”
“I’m glad you’re here Oliver.”
