i genuinely regularly tear up about armand trying to warm daniel's locket in his hands before giving it to him in the devil's minion chapter. like you're fucking kidding. daniel is so unbelievably precious to armand. but it's not just that this one small gesture speaks to so much thoughtfulness and care and adoration, it's also that it's so revealing when it comes to the role vampirism plays in their relationship.

to armand, vampirism impedes his ability to care for daniel; he wants nothing more than to be more human for him. armand wants to perform this small kindness for his boy, but it's rendered ineffective by his lack of body heat. meanwhile, the gesture clearly still meant something to daniel if it stuck in his mind all those years and he thought it worth mentioning to lestat for his book. armand trying to warm the locket mattered because armand—who has also only ever been treated extremely callously himself—loved him enough to think to do it, not because it actually made a physical difference.

armand might see his own inhumanity as a barrier to loving daniel the way he thinks daniel deserves, but daniel has never seen it that way. daniel has never wanted armand to be more human, he's only ever wanted armand to love him.

imo the most significant DM crumb in TVL, and the part we should be most excited about (and yet I think we blew past too quickly) is not the love declaration. It's not the past-DM confirmation. It's not daywalking. It's not companionship or "I'm seeing someone".

It's Daniel getting turned on that plane.

Almost everyone assumed Dubai. And Dubai lined up with spite, and revenge, and Assad's "a moment of savage madness".

Some of us really wanted that book-canon private jet turning, though we had no idea how the show was going to pull it off given the changes. Most of us doubted that they'd keep it to the private jet. We hoped, but we'd kind of left it up to fics.

But then they fucking did it.

And they made it so it happened weeks after the interview. Now there's this whole mystery surrounding it, and yeah they keep calling it murder, and Louis said spite... blah blah blah

Because that's what they want us to think.

But imo if they've given us the plane as his turning location, his BOOK CANON TURNING LOCATION, then I really think they're going to go all in, and the rest of his turning will be book accurate too.

THAT should be the DM hopecore we take away from TVL.

Thinking about present day armand and daniel tentatively working out their sleeping arrangements. armand seeing daniel's pathetic sleeping bag closet set up. daniel seeing how armand's expression goes blank and suddenly feeling so self conscious but before he can get defensive armand says "I have been neglecting to care for you; let me find you something more suitable" and the very next day they receive a huge package which armand effortlessly picks up before hesitantly asking if daniel would be fine with sleeping in armand's room and it makes daniel's heart squeeze to realise that armand is also self conscious and unmoored in this new delicate dance that they've been swept up in so ofc he says yes and they haul the package to armand's, no, their bedroom now and daniel wonders if the coffin is big enough for both of them to squeeze into it together and armand smiles so shyly and so sweetly as daniel opens the package and finds that armand had ordered him an XL dog crate
