SINDY – THE UNHOLY ICON: Visitor Cited After Attempting To Extinguish Historic Burning Bush
Officials at Burning Bush National Park are reminding visitors to follow posted safety guidelines after an unusual incident involving a self-described member of the Unholy Fire Safety Division.
Witnesses say the incident occurred shortly after noon when Sindy, a hiker visiting the park, reportedly observed the park's most famous attraction and concluded that immediate action was necessary.
According to multiple eyewitness accounts, Sindy removed a fire extinguisher from her backpack and began attempting to suppress the flames of the Historic Burning Bush despite several clearly visible warning signs advising visitors not to do so.
Park staff responded after receiving reports of “a heavily tattooed woman aggressively performing fire safety procedures on a protected religious landmark.”
The situation quickly drew a crowd.
Among those present was a local historical reenactor portraying Moses, who appeared visibly distressed as the incident unfolded. Several witnesses reported hearing the man repeatedly shouting variations of “Please stop!” while gesturing toward the burning shrub.
Despite the confusion, no injuries were reported. Officials later confirmed that the bush continued burning normally throughout the event and suffered no lasting damage.
When questioned by park authorities, Sindy reportedly defended her actions. “If it's on fire, you're supposed to put it out,” she stated. “That's just common sense.”
The statement has sparked debate online, with some praising her commitment to public safety while others argue that centuries of documented history should have provided sufficient evidence that the attraction was functioning as intended.
The Unholy Fire Safety Division has not issued an official comment. Park officials are expected to install additional signage in the coming weeks.
