Comedy Workshop Showcase Intro at The Cleveland Funny Bone 5/14/2025
Comedy Workshop Showcase Intro at The Cleveland Funny Bone - 3
A talent booker requested an audition video from an aspiring comedian. But with a lack of performance opportunities in his area, the comedian has only been working consistently through online (Zoom) shows. Would it be acceptable to submit a virtual video? If so, what are ways to look professional - and not like an amateur? From the author of "How To Be A Working Comic."
Video Editing: Hiding Something? | How To Be A Working Comic #17
Congratulations to all the comedians for a hilarious comedy workshop showcase last night at The Cleveland Improv. This one was funny from beginning to end - and earned BIG laughs from our "almost" sold-out audience (we were close!). Special thanks to our MC Angela Verges, show-closer Anthony Mayo AND a special surprise set (he didn't know it was coming - but good to be in the right place at the right time) from Steven Prince. Someone said I even got a few laughs, but it was just my pre-recorded laugh track (that I take everywhere with me). Next workshop starts February 18 at The Tampa Improv and then back in Cleveland this spring. Stay tuned for dates.

Showcase Your Comedy Writing | How To Be A Working Comic #11
You would think all comedians want to be on stage, but some would rather be comedy writers and stay behind the scenes. An email from one of our subscribers asked about writing for sitcoms and how to submit material. I have an experienced theory about this and make my point while visiting the Music City Showcase Capital - Nashville, Tennessee. From the author of "How To Be A Working Comic”.
Video & Audio Set-Up For Your Zoom Show | How To Be A Working Comic #10
The topic in a recent video was about making your online performance a "show." Zoom and YouTube webcasts are going to be around for a long time and you never know who might be watching - and scheduling future (paid) shows. But what is the basic (and affordable) video and audio equipment you should have to keep you from looking like you're standing in a shadow with bad sound quality? Here are suggestions from the author of "How To Be A Working Comic"
