[This is really a part 2 but I havent done Part 1 Yet so youll just get a text explanation]

Kelek uses his magic to turn objects into plush/blankets by utilizing magic stored in his tail and magic stored in his hand-pads [which function as storage sacks as well]. After wrapping the magic from his tail around the object he kneads it in while mixing it with his hand-beans magic.

He can 'enhance' the plush by pumping more magic into it [either by excess wrapping and/or excess kneading] and make the plush bigger or smaller [he excels at bigger]. He can only do this during the initial creation, he can't enhance a finished plush.

Enhancing saps the magic from his paw pads [he can use his tail magic (wrapping) but using up all of his magic is dangerous, whereas using up the magic stored in his paws is fine.] He gets super tired if he uses more than half.

Kelek comfortably maxes out around bed-pillow size with bean-bag size being a bit more effort. Something large enough to lay on will knock him out. [Which isn't an unusual way to find his species.]

Hey, I was reading through the small guides tag and I wanted to show my fiance your comfort creatures, but it seems like all the images of them are gone. Is there some place we can still see them?

Is the devouring by a comfort creature painful? Or is it quick and easy?

i mean i guess the person could hang for a sec if they really need to come to terms with some stuff but its usually a dose of venom from tiny spines in the “floor” that put them in a dreamy coma state, killing them in a about 10 seconds.

then a quick munch.

most creatures aren’t really into ripping their peeps apart so its not very dramatic. after they eat they take a real heavy nap. they get dosed by their own venom a little bit and it puts them down for a few days. they say they get to see their past visitors again in the dreams. you can hear them talking in their sleep.

they always wake up crying.

there are a lot of these, wow.

so they would pretty much juggle this person and take other near-death people in the meantime? yeah, it could work. the smallest wrench in the works could break this whole relationship and there might be some upsetting side effects from the constant Pact switching on the person (that’s a lot of magic that’s not doing what its supposed to be doing. its gonna find ways to imitate that thing) but it could work.

anon 1: power doesn’t help. separating them does but the creature will get Very Angry. they are capable of impressive amounts of damage unless heavily confined.

anon 2: the pact is broken and the visitor dies like it was going to. creatures are very hard to kill though. lots of healing magic.

anon 3: the old fashioned way i assume. they don’t reproduce very often (many have never seen a child of their kind) but they do have live births. just one or two dragon pups at a time. they care for them for a while but they’re a wandering species and they tend to scatter. they like their own kind just fine and will congregate at certain times of the year to remember their visitors and share news but they don’t stick around. they’re pretty chill with each other as long as no one touches anyone’s people/stuff or abuses the visitors. that’s a fight.

(edit: whoops forgot the last question. yes they do but they have a tendency to switch it up after long streatches of time. usually by translating their name into different languages taught to them by their visitors. they like languages.)

@2bruza: their inner selves. literally. the bit that lives in the shell and talks to people.

physically attached, but stretchy. they have a lot of leeway. like a snail. its a practice to take the person outside and leave them for a day so the pact doesn’t set in if they can’t consent. when they take them back in, the time resets.

there’s a reason some terminally ill people search them out. some creatures even work at hospitals, serving as roving intensive care units, letting their visitor get to experience an outdoor adventure or just allowing them to travel long distances in comfort before they have to go.

between the pacts, the magic gifts, the sapient brain food, the "keep your mind alive until you're specially killed", and the dragons dreaming and crying for their guests, it sounds like a deal with the devil/dragon who eats your soul except more sympathetic

bingo my dude.

if they weren’t fluffy helpful lovebugs they would be regarded as terrifying monstrosities. a True Asshole creature would be some dark stuff.
