#comic script writing

I never know how to write out a comic script WITHOUT doing like, page thumbnails???

I'm not sure if that's how they Usually do it or how they did it back in the day, but it feels like scripting would be difficult without thumbnails????

Like I'm gonna do what works for me, but I'm curious how others do/did it ONLY script first.
